Corbin Middlemas and Jim Maxwell have a chat with retired Grandstand host Karen Tighe in the media box at the MCG, during tea break of today’s play of the Boxing Day test between Australia and India.
Karen says it is the first time she attends the match in person, as her marriage with Glenn Mitchell took her to Perth nearly 25 years ago. She says she’s from Sydney and her family still lives there.
Karen says she and her son will go to the Australian Open tennis next month, and to the British F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone next year.
ABC Sport will be covering the Women’s and Men’s singles final at the Brisbane International on Sunday night.
The ABC Sport schedule lists that coverage will commence from 5.15pm AEDT online and on the app. But then also be broadcast on ABC Radio across Queensland and Digital Radio from 6.30pm AEDT following the conclusion of the day’s test cricket coverage.
ABC’s coverage for the opening day of Australian Open 2025 has been updated. The day’s play is available on ABC Tennis button on ABC Listen app and online from 12.05pm AEDT, while coverage will also be available on digital radio and analogue radio (see the link for ABC Sport schedule in the above post).
The daytime coverage on day 1 will also be heard across the local radio network on analogue radio - evening session will only be available on digital radio at this stage.
ABC Radio will have live commentary for both NRL and AFL versions of Indigenous All-Stars this Saturday night (February 15). They will be available on ABC Listen app nationwide and on Local Radio in respective states (Indigenous v Maori in NSW, ACT and QLD and Fremantle v Indigenous in WA, SA, NT, VIC and TAS).
Brett Sprigg hosting the first half of Summer Grandstand today. It’s the last time this summer Grandstand will be broadcast nationally, with the NRL coverage returning in NSW, ACT and QLD tomorrow.
Sprigg said Declan Byrne would host a new NRL show called Saturday Sledge, starting next week (March 8). It will air at midday AEDT in NSW, ACT and QLD.

The ABC AFL commentsry list has Aaron Bryans, Tom Wilson and Mark Sodestrom calling this year in South Audtralia. First time in a long time that Neil Cross hasn’t called.
Not sure if he is still doing any ABC Sport Radio work but he has called every sport in SA at different times over the years.
ABC Radio will broadcast the Socceroos’ World Cup 2026 Asian qualifier against Indonesia, live from Sydney’s Allianz Stadium, next Thursday night (March 20). Coverage is via ABC Listen app.
Game 4 of NBL Championship Series between Melbourne United and Illawarra Hawks will be broadcast live tonight on ABC Illawarra from 7.30pm AEDT. It will be also broadcast nationwide (including Melbourne) on ABC Sport digital radio and ABC Listen app.
