It’s not bad. But it’s a shame it’s same concept as The View set and the graphics on the set.

The idea of this being all screens I guess is cheaper in the long run for all these studios because they’re more dynamic, updating wouldn’t cost anywhere near as much.

I don’t like this trend but I understand it.

I must say in the pizza segment the AR/dynamic kitchen backdrops were quite cool. Make it all feel less flat.

It’s interesting that these shows are literally in a basement studio now but don’t feel dark and gloomy compared to say 7’s Sunrise set.

God GMA now has a white couch for the soft set side. It was flaring like crazy in the interview just then.

A blue couch would be better

They should get rid of the couch all together and just stick with those director chairs they use so often. The couch feels outdated and out of place in this hyper modern visual era for sets. They rarely used the couch in their old space but even it was a better option than the white one today.

Exactly, it’s a sensible decision but it feels a bit soulless. IMO you can’t beat a good, real window! Or for ‘proper’ news, a newsroom view. I think the best approach is to have a mix of screens and other elements, but I get that that’s not always possible.

Yeah and I guess it’s done so the studios can be used for potential future programming that doesn’t require specific sets etc.

One thing they do need to fix is the GMA logo graphic on the desk. It’s very fuzzy and hard to read.

Over two months after the GMA3 rework, both Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan are out. The former, jumping ship to CBS’ Inside Edition; the latter leaving ABC News entirely. The 3rd hour will continue to be fronted by a rotation of GMA hosts for now.

Meanwhile, some ESPN faces are coming on as guest co-hosts in Summer:

This show is such a mess. A show at 3pm or whatever calling itself GMA trying to be part of a show that went off air at 9am. Just brand it ABC News and do news like NBC.

ABC News has wanted to expand GMA into the 9am hour for close to a decade now but have been blocked by the uber successful hours of “LIVE” and The View. Kelly Ripa has pushed back on her show shifting to 10am which is an hour that ABC turned over to many of its affiliates for local news in the last year or two.

A strong hour of GMA3 (such as the one under Amy Robach and TJ Holmes) helps them make the case.

They could just bring LIVE! under the GMA brand… “GMA LIVE! With Kelly & Whoever”

Isn’t Live a WABC production and GMA is under News. They still have barriers between entertainment and news, The View swapped a few times but is back under News.

I think The View became political when Trumpy became president in the first term in 2016

Possibly, but it’s all 1 parent company.

The Bush presidency would like a word

“GMA LIVE” was part of the expansion pitch ABC leadership made to Kelly Ripa in 2015 as the official third hour of GMA. It would have been helmed by Ripa and Strahan with a much more GMA feel. Kelly balked and said absolutely not, and GMA responded by poaching Michael Strahan as a full-time anchor elevating him from the part-time role he had from 2014. The debacle around that transition expended a ton of leverage for GMA’s expansion efforts into that hour and my understanding is it hasn’t been seriously revisited since.

A stronger GMA3 helps them apply some pressure again to claim the 9am hour but probably won’t happen while LIVE remains the dominate syndicated daytime talk show.

sorry Kel times are tough and we all gotta do our part!

The View got VERY political a decade before Trump came along.

Her and the show itself have each run their course for me, especially with her husband playing sidekick these days. But I can’t deny that they’re still pretty profitable for Disney. Now how profitable is it to justify another $20M+/annually for her moving forward is the bigger question. I think we’ll be seeing evolution and turnover across all of these shows whose anchors make insane amounts of money as the shows, while still dominant, have shed millions of viewers.
