From what I’m reading on Twitter, there will be no edition of ABC News Western Australia tonight due to a blackout affecting the Perth studios.
I wonder if anyone in WA can confirm what’s airing at 7pm in lieu of the normal news bulletin?
I’ll try to check when the time comes. Wonder what could take its timeslot.

Well it’s almost obvious it was going to be News24 isn’t it?
No local weather or anything though. Bit poor.
I don’t watch ABC as much, so I would of assumed a National Edition of ABC News, or a Perth Edition provided by a different state.
Considering how the ABC does this a fair bit, yes that is to be assumed.
I believe ABC Canberra had to produce a single bulletin for both themselves and NSW last year.

Yep I believe that it’s the standard practice for ABC News Canberra to air in NSW when there are major technical problems in Ultimo. Same deal the other way round, with ABC News NSW being the standby bulletin for Canberra if the Northbourne Avenue studios are out of action.

I expect a few big names at major networks will be taking a couple of weeks off before the last few weeks of the election.

Many news personalities will often take an annual break around Late June/Early July (likely due to it being mid-year, Winter school holidays, etc.), but obviously a July 2 Federal Election has shaken things up a bit this year…
I think Virginia only works about 7 or 8 months out of the year, from what I have seen.
Virginia returned yesterday.
Also today they had coverage of the ACT Budget speech
