That backdrop & branding etc. would not look out of place in a Sydney studio and clearly the Sydney crew did not notice it in the rush of putting the program to air. It is only those outside of NSW that are offended by this mistake. Certainly this should not have happened. But in the greater scale of current events I don’t think it is a hanging offence.
But the executive producer knows they were producing a national news service. And would have known its for a week or two in advance. Checking the giant NSW gfx would be the first thing you think an EP would do, They ran through the test multiple times. Was the EP not watching?
Ever since they got the NEWS CHANNEL set renovated, is it still in the atrium or did they move it to a different area?

ABC News Sundays will continue at 30 minute bulletins with The Virus programmed for 10 minutes each Sunday at 7:30pm.
ABC has 53 local newsrooms across Australia with over 300 video “content Producers”
Is there a reason why this massive staff could not be doing a 10 minute local news bulletin for each of these 53 local newsrooms. It seems they could be more than capable of something?

The ABC do not have local feeds for their TV broadcast stations. There are 2 feeds for most states - metro and regional + 2 territories. They would have to use other means to get the bulletins out - social media or playing every bulletin sequentially on ABC News channel.
