ABC News Content and Appearance

Mic stuff-up during Weather. Paul went off camera and got a new mic.
Set looks great - Tamara mentioned the set at the end!

That Victoria set is amazing.

Everything the NSW should be … but isn’t.

Easily one of the best sets in the country. Looks fantastic.
Well done to the ABC (ABV2 Melbourne) for pulling this off.

Have they ditched the automatic cameras??

That is a brilliant set. So many different angles, great lighting and very versatile.

I agree that it’s one of the best sets in the country now (but obviously not as good as 10 Sydney!)

They better look after that floor

Shouldn’t WA be receiving a new set? IIRC they were first to receive the 2010 era set and definitely need an upgrade… It seems to be shrinking as the years go by.

Would’ve been better if Victoria, after the main headline at the start, uses the template reading “Good evening, I’m [insert presenter’s name]. This is ABC News.” But even if Victoria continues the “[insert presenter’s name] with ABC News” version, doesn’t matter for me.

It’s a great set however I’m not a fan of the design with the big display. It’s weird and reflects off the floor more than it should. There should be a frame around it.

Some HD shots of the new set. I’m sure @Abesty will provide plenty more soon

Looks alright. Not very cohesive, all the different components don’t really fit together and look a bit jumbled in wide shots etc. But thankfully less ‘retro-futuristic’ than Sydney (and better lit).

Also a bit puzzling that they’ve constructed 3 separate sets in the space for Insiders, Breakfast and News rather than one truly multi-purpose set. Seems unnecessarily limiting.

Doesn’t seem to flow. Or join up. And so much black. Feels super heavy and dark

Thanks for those!

It looks like the portrait display used by 7pm
is the same one by the windows for News Breakfast?

LOVE that desk and the white on black branding. Really smart.

I think it’s great they have utilised the “vertical” screen on either side of the main backdrop screen as an OTS. Very clean design

If you are referring to this I think its the monitor from the control room area that they use on News Breakfast

Nope. i think that’s a different screen. The desk is in the first shot and behind Tamara is the blue light box panelling. If you look closely at the wide shot there’s a led screen on either side of the desk backdrop.
