The match just needs to start earlier, I think. It is within the ABC’s control as they should never have agreed to a deal where the match is scheduled to end at around 7:00pm and a delayed finish is possible.

ABC TV and radio studios are numbered as per the d radio callsigns and PMG area codes, the first number representing the state.

The set when it launched looked really good but it was never kept in good stand, it got worn down and never fixed up.

And it was ruined when it was barely a year old when they made it dark and dingy with the dark slider panels and the terrible background loops featuring skylines and sliders. It wasn’t needed and it was clearly all done in house.
Unfortunately we’re probably due for a mid cycle ‘update’ of the ABC News graphics that of course will be done in house and look totally shithouse.
One day the ABC will realise good design ages well.

They have. The slider graphics package was revised (poorly) midlife, and we’re probably nearing that for the current set.
Can someone please post the bad slider graphic packages on here? I want to see just how crappy they were.

OK so the images in the Opening Titles were updated and so too the footage used in the ABC News 24 Idents, but if anything I think the 2014 updates to those elements actually added a few more years of on-air usage to them! I’m also aware that it took some time for all state/territory 7pm bulletins to get fully animated name supers and “News 24-style” Openers with the titlecard animating out to the studio but that’s probably because like the (previous) generation of ABC News sets, the rollout of VizRT happened quite slowly!
Speaking of the idents, can you find any videos of the 2015 and 2016-2017 idents? The 2016-2017 ones were on YouTube a while back, but they were deleted suddenly. And the complete 2015 idents I can’t find at all.

Technical problem towards the end of tonight’s Victorian bulletin with Paul Higgins’ microphone failing to work, so Mary Gearin had to read the weather. The graphics worked perfectly though.

I went to the studio in November - that area is near a reception desk but NOT where the normal studio is.

Given that the ABC comes under federal government jurisdiction you’d think they would recognise the ACT as Ngambri country as the federal government does and not Ngunnawal country which only the ACT government recognises

ABC Canberra did significant consultation with traditional owners of the Canberra area. And the Feds are the only body to recognise Ngambri and not Ngunnawal.
