ABC News Content and Appearance

no 7pm is ridiculous, surely a small crew could put something together.

That’s how a strike works, thanks!

Yeah, but it could be problematic in this case.

If nothing else, I’d rather have multiple hours of sustaining feed. Or DW.

Already have no news during overnights, might as well extend that to daytime.

Of what, a holding slide?

Something like this.

Yeah but you’d have to make that, have that as a system.

Yikes. Ever heard of not crossing a picket line?

So what happened with the version you initially posted as saying there would be replays?

Or did the ABC manage to strike a one-day deal with BBC at short notice?

In any case, your wish has been granted.

It has since been updated. What i posted is what was listed when i posted it.

Considering ABC News Radio carries BBC World Service and ABC News uses reports from the BBC often, i assume they have some type of agreement inplace.

Previous times this has happened they managed to put a 7pm national bulletin together.

This article has since been updated with:

Despite the disruptions, the broadcaster is working with the unions to discuss how it would quickly scale its teams back up to cover any significant breaking news event that occurred during the strike, Stevens said.

ā€œWe all know how uncertain the domestic and international news environment is at the moment… so please stay alert to the need to be called in should a major story break,ā€ Stevens said. Emergency broadcasting was exempt from the strike, Stevens said.

So we’ll be in safe hands. BBC across the day, and a technical resumption of normalcy if things go down.

Probably unless the BBC already has ongoing coverage of said story.

That is not true.

For starters, reports from the BBC are regularly used on weekend NC bulletins

BBC Radio programs also air on RN, and the World Service is also frequently aired on NewsRadio.

They’ve also taken the BBC for coverage after the Death of Prince Phillip (including the actual funeral) - also the same with some aspects of the lead-up (and the actual) funeral of The Queen, as well as the Coronation of the King.

I was referring to the NC taking long-form BBC broadcasts in a normal capacity (i.e. overnights). But point taken, especially during major international stories originating in the UK.

No you explicitaly stated:

You were called out and proven wrong. You have a track record of bashing the ABC at any chance, even at the most minor of things.

This isn’t normal? Anyway.

Here’s the last time this all happened, a national news from I think Brisbane, with the then Qld state editor in the anchor chair.

Nine took BBC One when the queen died. I would’ve thought there’d be issues with Foxtel already having broadcast rights to the BBC News channel
