Yeah, I think ABC News stopped being local news a long time ago.
The only effort they seem to be putting local resources these days is into radio.
They kept Sundays but it’s clear they still ran with the idea of reduced staff numbers working on a Sunday.

Very happy that the 1986 theme is coming back, a little disappointed though that they didn’t use the 1998-2005 version with the French horns as the base for the remix, as in my opinion that is the superior version.
Looking forward to hearing a complete version, hopefully the ABC have the sense to post a full version.

Presumably since News Breakfast uses the NC graphics it will be at 6am AEST, with the full theme and titles to launch at 9am AEST.

Yes, News Breakfast’s theme is very different. Wonder if they’ll bring it more in line with the new theme tomorrow morning.

Could go either way. The current theme is completely different to the regular news theme so they could get away with keeping it if they wanted to.
On the other hand, a News Breakfast theme inspired by the new news theme would be fun!

Baffling to ditch one of the best news themes around at the moment for such a hideously dated piece of music which was ditched with good reason. Some things are best left in the last century.

The new theme will make its on-air debut at 9am AEST on Monday on the ABC News Channel, and will be heard on every state and territory 7pm bulletin from Monday night.
