The current closed captioning service isn’t reliable, words are missed or full of typos. Importantly, Auslan is a language in itself.
The interpreter in a box thing is pretty common on the BBC, I think an hour of BBC Breakfast has it and it pops up during the day on the News Channel. It’s a small change but incredibly meaningful for the deaf community.
Yes, it’s still in Studio 27 at Ultimo looking out at the atrium. They’ve just rotated the set 90 degrees so the window isn’t really visible on-air anymore.
Ah yes, you’re right. I guess it’s official name is Studio 27.
I assumed because it was home to the News24 set that that would’ve been the obvious choice - guess I was wrong
It is however the same studio it’s always been, with the viewing window into the atrium.
Great to see the weather being presented from the new set with some nice panning shots. They need to sort their shit out and start using the set all day.
Yes. Was watching at around 1pm (Ros Childs was presenting) and the backdrop looked dreadful (an aqua coloured newsroom). I wonder why they’re still using the Sydney set for NC when they have a proper good set ready.
I think the reason why they’re using the Sydney set for NOON NEWS is because when it was relaunched back in 2014 (along with the new sets and the schedules and presenters), it was assigned to the Sydney set. After the new set was introduced, I think they wanted to leave her there. But yes, I do agree with you, that aqua coloured newsroom was so 2014. Why not use the midday Sydney loop instead? If you’re standing in front of the newsroom backdrop it looks like you’re presenting a news update instead…
And yes, even if Joe has presented from the new set once or twice, I still don’t get why they have to leave him in Studio 32. That’s not where he presented Mornings since the program’s launch.
