Then it should have a name that reflects that focus
People know what it is. Why do you want to change everything?
All the shows on ABC News that have different names
Do they have different formats?
From what I can see everything is more or less the same down the middle format, but under different names
Afternoon Briefing
News Hour
Evening News
National News
News Tonight
Nightly News
breathes in
Source?
It’s a rolling on the hour news channel, not appointment viewing like Sky, CNN, Fox or MSNBC. Some blocks have different formats, others don’t. People know they can get the news with minimal BS if they tune in on the hour. It’s quite similar to how BBC News channel does it.
So all those shows on the list have the same format? @Snoozenooze
Afternoon Briefing is different from the other programs listed (which are bog-standard news bulletins) in that it’s centered around Karvelas interviewing politicians and/or other key figures about the day’s political news.
Thx for that
So all those shows on the list have the same format?
No and not all of those shows on the list don’t seem to exist which is why I was keen to see your source.
Mornings is faster paced with lots of crosses to events, press conferences, etc. Joe spends half of the show interrupting one thing to jump to another. The evening block is more reflective and uses packages from the 7pm news.

I think trialling the Auslan service as a regular feature for the News Channel might be a good thing after the crisis is over. Ideally as a hidden feature that can be switched on; like a simplified version of BBC Red Button. Then it’s not on all the time if you don’t want it but you can make it appear if you need it.
Ideally as a hidden feature that can be switched on
That’s technologically quite difficult. I don’t think there’s a feature in the DVB standards for such a thing.
Ideally as a hidden feature that can be switched on; like a simplified version of BBC Red Button.
Probably way too many logistical complexities in trying to achieve that and would probably require funding.
Red Button is delivered as MHEG-5 video streams over DVB-T. It can be done
The ABC probably doesn’t have the infrastructure to support MHEG-5 in place.
Gosh that black box behind the person signing looks weird.
I hate saying things about presenters but Miriam is just absolutely awful. Shows no emotion, or even any indication that she wants to be there. I just honestly don’t get why she’s there.
Desk is the only thing letting this down. Whole lower third of the wide shots is a bit of mess.
I don’t understand the lack of lighting on the desk, needs a white ring around the glass insert and some purple accent lighting around the base (maybe following the curves of the three wings).
The wings on the desk are weird. A simple circle would have been enough
