Hope someone is going to give that top of the desk a wipe, that’s filthy.

Surely that will be distracting for presenters when people walk past?

Maybe they’ll install some blinds or some one-way film?

Oh no. It looks so busy.

Quite a nice set. The displays on the right however should display finance or some sort of general headlines thing as it’s a 24/7 channel.

It looks like it’s a feedback display for the anchor. They may only have that set up for rehearsals. Easy to see how it’ll be used for crosses, etc. wait to see if/how it’s used tomorrow.

Wow what an upgrade!! And to think that a few months ago half the lights on the set weren’t working :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Agreed that’s where mostly the cameras will be majority of time on air. I imagine that big screen will be used for interviews ie Skype and links etc.

I actually really like it. I do like the dark features in the set. Fits in well with the Melbourne Set and look.

Desk looks pretty drab without any lighting and those weird ‘wings’.

Everything else looks great though. New backdrop is awesome, gives such a sense of spaciousness. And the lighting looks perfect in contrast to the other Sydney set.

Makes sense why part of the new newsroom backdrop is similar to Sky Uk as Lightwell did their virtual backdrops too.

They also designed the Side Panelling for the old set when ABC News relaunched back in 2017.

Lightwell did all the backdrop loops for the State bulletins too so I’m wondering if they’ll also get a refresh from tomorrow night seeing that Melbourne’s is very dated now with all the construction there in the last few years.

If there are going to be new backdrop loops, you’d think they’d wait until next Sunday night when it’ll be time to bring in the nighttime look with DST over in five of the eight states & territories?

Yeah that is true! Just found this on their Insta, I’m wondering if the “collection of digital backdrops” is for ABC?

Looks like 9am news is still from the NSW studio:

Why don’t they do any wide shots or angles? It’s so dull
