The press release from when the set was initially launched implies that each state will eventually get a similar style set, or at least the technology behind it:

So one thing I’ve noticed with this new studio is the backdrop above is ‘live’ - they managed to embed live footage of the studio in the monitors.

Another great feature is the camera tracking. The perspective of the backdrop will move as the camera does, giving a great deal of depth and realism.

Pretty impressive stuff.

It does look cool, but the background looks a bit more cartoon-y than the previous one I feel.

Ugly fake backdrop. Surely they could have something realistic.

Yeah it’s very ITV News. Would much prefer the skyline backdrop.

but the choice of skylines would be for a national news channel so do they use a Sydney backdrop or a Sydney backdrop?

A newsroom/non skyline graphic is wholly appropriate for a national news channel as it is overseas. A skyline would be weird.

Why would it be weird? Everyone knows they broadcast from Sydney/Parramatta. What’s the big deal?

Use a London backdrop and throw everyone off balance

Really annoy everyone. Photoshop one or two iconic buildings from every Australian capital city into one skyline.

Nine has beaten them to that one thinks

Gemma presented ABC News Mornings from Ultimo today

I think that’s a fantastic idea!!

Isn’t that what they used to do in the news 24 era of graphics?

No?

I’m not sure why, but Weekend Breakfast finished at 10:15 am, despite being scheduled to air till 11am.

Planet America taking it’s place until 11am where Lorna Dunkley presented the News from the old NSW 7PM set.

Might be technical difficulties with the news channel studio given the bulletins were coming from the NSW studio
