Not sure personally but they use reporters from other outlets all the time. Never seen anybody from 7 but seen people from 10 and SBS.

It’s scheduled to be the last sitting day of 2023 for the federal parliament.
Not sure if it’s a good idea to rest The World over Christmas. The rest of the world doesn’t stop during the festive period, particularly given the events in Gaza and Ukraine. It should continue all year round, with fill-in presenters if required.

It’s usually back after two weeks. But usually in a 30 minute time slot untill the end of January.

It’s also a shame Joe O Brien isn’t on ABC News Mornings anymore either - he’s a great presenter with good charisma.
Karina Carvalho is a bit Zzzzz in that timeslot.

I just said that to my wife when we watched it at the end of an hour, I wasn’t sure if she was trying to slow down to fill in time and drag things out or what but it was quite painful with only one to two words per breath. Like having to listen to Stevie from Malcolm in the Middle.

However, Karina has been overrated since day one and is entirely the wrong person for mornings. Would love them to poach Narelda for the time slot but failing that, Launa Dunkley would be a huge huge improvement.

Mind numbingly so. It feels amateurish at times. Lacks any polish or production values. And the reporting and story selection often feels niche and random.
People say “it’s ABC it doesn’t need to be 7 news and sunrise” and I agree. But there are hundreds of news channels out there with more polish and more watchable than ABC news

Disagree - the commercial news services (particularly Seven, but Nine to a lesser extent) chase and subsequently report the stories that resonate with their chosen target suburb (or in the case of Sydney, Western Sydney as a whole), which means there is a significant amount of news that gets missed.
The ABC does a pretty decent job of trying to fill that gap (although its standards are slipping quickly) - some of it might come across as “niche” or “random”, but that is driven largely by its choosing to have a much broader coverage of the day’s events.

Karina can’t project her voice for the life of her and talks in monotone half the time. This didn’t use to be the case when she first started anchoring in QLD in 2013… overtime she just stopped putting effort in.
As for Miriam I find her depressing, she always looks miserable and like she doesn’t want to be there.

It’s a strange way she presents, especially the opens when she looks at the monitor below the camera for like 2-3 seconds then says hello.
Lorna is great. Mariam Saab another good one.

I’d rather they looked at the presenter selection and pace of the bulletins, before worrying about the look - though it would be good to see a refresh.
