Where’s the usual News Corpse garbage article that slams ABC’s coverage?

Its there - they tried to have a fair whack at the 9pm fireworks coverage

The coveage this year was excellent. Soundtrack by the Presets was mainly instrumental. First soundtrack specially-composed for the evening since 2001 when Bruce Rowland’s works were in the Midnight fireworks.

Watching the encore now.

Casey was excellent, Jimmy great as usual - Tina fairly average but do rate her energy and rendition of ‘Back in Black’ to close out her set.

The Night Looks Bright With Stars For The ABC’s New Year’s Eve Celebration.

ABC NYE 2022 kicks off Saturday, 31 December at 8.30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.

Hosted by Charlie Pickering and Zan Rowe, the ABC’s NYE 2022 concert and fireworks celebration is set to light up the night when it airs Saturday, 31 December from 8.30pm on the ABC.

Broadcasting live from the Northern Broadwalk of the Sydney Opera House, the ABC is set to take NYE celebrations up a notch with an incredible list of Australian artists who will take the stage for the epic three-hour show.

The stellar line-up includes Tones and I, Ball Park Music, Vika & Linda, Dami Im, Morgan Evans and Tasman Keith who are all set to showcase a series of unforgettable performances. The list does not stop there, as part of the festivities, we’ll celebrate the upcoming 2023 Sydney WorldPride Festival with a special segment hosted by Jeremy Fernandez with show stopping performances from Electric Fields, Courtney Act and the NYE Queen herself, Casey Donovan.

Celebrations kick off with The Early Night Show, simulcast on ABC ME and hosted by Rhys Nicholson, Casey Donovan and Gemma Driscoll, along with a swag of surprise guests. Bringing all the family-friendly fun in the lead up to 9pm Calling Country Fireworks and a live performance curated by Dennis Golding and Carmen Glynn-Braun from The Re-Right Collective.

From 9:15pm, the live music begins providing the perfect soundtrack for your New Year’s Eve.

In partnership with the City of Sydney, when the clock strikes midnight the world-famous display will light up the city in a show stopping presentation as we farewell 2022.

ABC Director of Regional & Local, Judith Whelan said, “We’re thrilled to be ringing in another new year with our partners City of Sydney to deliver yet another unforgettable NYE celebration. We hope that Australians at home and around the world join the ABC in celebrating what we expect to be a magical night”.

The NYE 2022 concert will broadcast across the entire ABC network including ABC TV, local ABC Radio and streamed live on ABC iview and across ABC social channels.

Global audiences can also tune in to ABC International, and the firework displays will be audio described for the vision impaired and available on the ABC listen app.

The location is the same as the 2020 NYE event, so it looks like the concert won’t be open to the public.

Also, the Opera House has its own NYE event on the western boardwalk on the same night.

First draft already filed away, just need to trawl Twitter for updates from the anti ABC brigade, cut and paste then hit publish.

Have News Corp got their obligatory article bagging the coverage ready? I’m sure it’s all ready written and they’ll claim how much better it was on 9 with Dickie Wilkins hosting the coverage.
