ABC New Year's Eve Coverage

Aloe was great. There has been a lot of bad karaoke tonight though.

15 minutes where they managed to slip in a clip of someone urinating into their own mouth

AKA, doing a Todd Carney (I think he was the rugby league player who was infamously snapped attempting to drink his own urine some years back anyway)! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I concur. Best act of the night so far.

That rendition of Uptown Funk wasn’t too bad either.

NYE on ABC. I can stream the coverage via YouTube live

Casey Donovan just knocked him right out of the park. How many times does she need to prove herself to the media in Australia to be given a proper go? Wins I’m A Celeb, is routinely the strongest female vocalist live, and yet she doesn’t seem to get many new opportunities.

*plus her wonderful performance for in memoriam at the Logies.

I agree with you there, she does have a very powerful voice!

Funnily enough, the Youtube stream seems to be better quality than the terrestrial HD channel…

Probably because ABC HD is at a fairly low bitrate.

Happy New Year, Media Spy!

The first post for 2020!

Kate Miller-Heidke singing Kate Bush was challenging and she pulled it off very well.

Stunning fireworks over Sydney harbour Bridge.
Happy New Year. A new year, a new decade, a new chapter and a new beginning into NSW, VIC, ACT, TAS and in NZ.

It was an awesome night watching the show and fireworks from the Opera House forecourt. The audience really gets into the performances and dances and sings along. I was surprised how it was not crowded at all and a very enjoyable experience.

I can highly recommend it if you ever get the chance to go.

Was the entry for free?

No. $50 entry. Food and drinks are priced at what you might expect at a pub.

Proceeds go to Musica Viva Australia, a musical performance organisation and the Indigenous Literary Foundation, providing books to remote indigenous communities.

I think what’s interesting is that they actually showed the opinions from both sides this time.

Viewers were divided over the crude gesture, with some saying it was disrespectful, and that it was unnecessary to make the night political.

Others said it adequately expressed the frustration many feel with Australia’s leadership

Have a feeling that a lot at Newscorp have turned on ScoMo now, along with many of his previous “fans” across Australia.

So this all the Murdoch press can say about the ABC New Year’s Eve Show? I thought they did an excellent job as did the report in The Age. With all the tragedy of the bushfires going on it was not an easy night to compere and Charlie did an excellent job IMO.

@JBar envious of you seeing it all live. Some of my favourite songs all well performed. Loved Russel Morris’s ‘The Real Thing’, Augie March ‘One Crowded Hour’ one of my all time favourite songs. Everything by Linda and Vika Bull and Casey Donovan and the NZ guy who did ‘Auld Lang Syne’ at the end was excellent. Well done ‘Auntie’. And I’m with you Tex. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

By the way I’ve lived through all those decades of song! :grinning: Love them all except maybe the '90’s.

 Same. That’s when I went and grabbed a burger and a drink from the bar.
