Jeremy Fernandez almost missed the countdown in NYE 2016 after a Hoodoo Gurus performance (the frontman had to tell the hosts)

ABC New Yearâs EveâŚThe Night is Yours coverage starts at 9.30pm
Iâd imagine that most people who arenât really media savy will probably be typing âWho is Zan Rowe?â into Google!
Looking forward to this. Last yearâs concert was the best.
Rove McManus have been active on ABC for the last 2 years presenting Whovians on ABC Comedy.
âGreat Southern Landâ was featured in Sydney NYE 1999 for the millennium night. There was vision of Australia and sea lanterns on Sydney Harbour during the show.
Wonder how Rove feels about being given the âkiddie showâ while Charlie gets the big gig?
Rove should be doing it solo butâs he only hosting the kids show before handing it over to Charlie Pickering for the concert and Midnight fireworks

12:15am rage: New Yearâs Special
Admirable job by the ABC again so far, glad they keep the coverage, at least they are live longer and have lots of Australian artists.
At a house party tonight and itâs on in the background on a 75" TV. The concert really looks spectacular.
Itâs the perfect thing to broadcast. I think the concert will be around for a very long time.
It seems like theyâve found the âright formulaâ for their NYE coverage - have a Giggle & Hoot/ABC3 based show surrounding the family fireworks followed by a big concert leading into the midnight fireworks
I hope Charlie Pickering doesnât accidently say âkill a policemanâ again, because that will send the right wingers into some more ABC hating outrage.
I really like this concert format theyâve gone with in the last two years, but weâre soon due for a News Corp hate piece!
Apart from that unfortunate slips of the tongue, there was actually almost no bad press of the coverage. Which is pretty amazing.
