Ahead of the upcoming virtual MIPCOM 2020, EQ Media Group announced their partnering with ABC Commercial to launch their new documentary series The Time Traveller’s Guide to the Galaxy (HD 6x60’) at the annual international content market.
Space always was and always will be our final frontier. Across six visually stunning high definition episodes, The Time Traveller’s Guide to the Galaxy investigates how science fiction will become a reality as we continue to push our boundaries, explores our deep fascination with the vast, starry Universe and takes us to the very cutting edge of space science.
Featuring some of the world’s sharpest and most innovative cosmic thinkers, The Time Traveller’s Guide to the Galaxy is hosted and narrated by Professor Alan Duffy and includes interviews with leading lights in rocket science, astrophysics and space technology from all over the planet.

Over four consecutive weeks on Tuesday nights, ABC TV + iview will broadcast a collection of sports documentaries following iconic Australian stories.
Featuring sporting legends Peter Brock, Steve Waugh and Wayne Gardner, plus the little-known story of the first all Indigenous cricket team to tour the UK.
On Tuesday, November 3, 8.30pm the first across the line is Brock: Over the Top . This feature film chronicles the extraordinary life of Australia’s greatest racing car driver, Peter Brock, peeling away the surface to reveal the complicated human story behind the legend.
Using a treasure trove of rare archival material coupled with candid interviews with the key characters in Peter Brock’s life including his family, his partners, and closest colleagues, this film tells the epic story of Brock’s early obsession with cars, his hard won ascension to the top in an incredible run of record-breaking victories at Bathurst, and how his success played out against the backdrop of professional and personal controversies until his ultimate, tragic death on the race track in 2006.

Steve Waugh, the mastermind behind Australia’s golden age of cricket, has never forgotten his first international tour: India, 1986. Over 30 years and hundreds of cricket tours later, Steve is heading back to take on a new challenge. Flanked by a mentor, Magnum photographer Trent Parke, and good friend Jason Brooks, Steve trails the country with his camera in hand, hoping to capture India’s love of cricket.
Crafted from candid, observational footage from the trip and with additional interviews – including Indian cricket stars Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, Australian cricket legends Adam Gilchrist and Lisa Sthalekar, plus former AFL footballer Adam Goodes – Capturing Cricket: Steve Waugh in India explores Steve’s relationship with cricket and uncovers why India means so much to one of the world’s most revered cricketers.
The high-octane documentary WAYNE will roar onto ABC on Tuesday, November 24, 8.30pm.
From Wollongong to Phillip Island via Monte Carlo, Wayne Gardner – The Wollongong Whiz – conquered the world of motorcycle racing and came home a hero. In a film that charts his humble start in the 1960s with a $5 motorbike, to becoming the 1987 Motorcycle World Champion, WAYNE explores the life of a fearless racing competitor who helped define motorcycle racing both at home and abroad. This is also the story of the woman by his side; childhood sweetheart Donna and the life they carved out together.
This collection of iconic documentaries will be presented as a special Sports collection on iview alongside encore screenings of The Australian Dream and FREEMAN.

The Sound - Season 2

After garnering widespread praise from critics, musicians and the public alike, ABC and the Mushroom Group are thrilled to confirm The Sound will return to ABC screens with season two, on Sunday 1 November at 6pm on ABC + iview – and just in time for Ausmusic Month!
It’s been seven months since COVID crippled Australia’s live music industry, leaving artists, venues, crew, and music lovers without a vital part of our country’s culture and economy. Born out of this crisis, The Sound’s purpose is clear: to showcase Australian music. With unique, multi-platform content, season two will continue to highlight the vast array of local talent within our industry, with artists given the opportunity to perform for prime-time audiences on our national broadcaster.
In a word, season one was epic: 85 artists filmed at 58 locations nationwide. It was packed full of ARIA winners, chart toppers, the hottest new talent and moving performances by incredible First Nations talent. Season two will be even bigger. You don’t want to miss an episode!
Returning for season two is host Jane Gazzo (ex-triple j, Recovery) who’ll also be joined on our screens by Bridget Hustwaite (triple j Good Nights) along with a guest co-host each episode. Expect the return of segments ‘From The Vault’ (unseen historical footage) and ‘Tribute’ (incredible collaborations on legendary tracks)… plus a few new surprises.

WAYNE is the near improbable true story of 1987 World Motorcycle Champion Wayne Gardner’s triumphant journey from riding a $5 dirt bike to the summit of his global sport. At its heart WAYNE is also a love story, with girlfriend, Donna-Lee Kahlbetzer, never far from the action.
Hailing from the working-class town of Wollongong in Australia, Wayne quickly excels in local motorcycle racing. After dropping out of high school and being fired from his tube making apprenticeship, Wayne must rely on his dogged determination to fulfill his dream. Wayne’s bare-knuckle riding style catches the attention of a Japanese team boss and engineer of almost mythical status, Mamoru Moriwaki. Never one to let an opportunity slide, Wayne accepts Moriwaki’s invitation to race in England and beyond.
Against all odds, Wayne wins his first race and permanently stamps his name on international motorcycle racing. But the fish-out-of-water Australian desperately misses his girlfriend Donna, who is the cornerstone to his success. With 17-year-old Donna at his side, young Wayne climbs the ranks of Grand Prix motorcycle racing quickly. But along with the fame and fortune comes tragedy and trauma and in the sophisticated world of Grand Prix, Wayne clashes with riders who are more calculated and refined than the larrikin kid from Wollongong.
He fulfils his lifelong dream of becoming 500cc World Champion in 1987, however, his good fortune does not last long. Honda redesigns his championship winning bike and Wayne quickly learns it is rife with mechanical problems. Things go from bad to worse when Honda signs Wayne’s arch nemesis, Yamaha rider Eddie Lawson, behind his back. Wayne is devastated by what he perceives as Honda’s betrayal and arrives at the inaugural Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island exhausted from a frenzy of media appearances. The odds are stacked against him, but that’s when Wayne performs his best. With a roaring crowd of one hundred thousand urging him on, Wayne triumphantly wins the race and hearts of all Australians that day.
Success often means pushing oneself and those around you to the absolute limit. The attributes that allowed Wayne to be a world champion ultimately take their toll on his relationship with Donna, and yet the two remain close friends. Now, as determined as ever, Wayne supports his sons, Remy and Luca, as they begin their own international motorcycle racing careers.
