Yeah, quite possibly. She was also head of Lifesaving Tasmania (I think it was them) and often appeared on the news regularly over the past few years.

ABC Radio announces 2021 presenter line ups

ABC Radio has announced its 2021 presenter line ups, which remain relatively stable for all networks, with no changes for ABC Radio Sydney and ABC Radio Melbourne.

Several ABC radio networks recorded their highest audience reach and share in a decade due largely to the bushfire coverage followed by coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic and the US election.

The best comment going. @John.S you will be loved by the haters who love to hate on this site.

Kate took over in late 2019 after Emma Griffiths left for personal reasons, divorce, unresolved side effects of being a foreign corro in war situations etc.

Hopefully her claim is being handled sensitively by the ABC’s stonewallers, ah, legal representation.

So Kate has covered weekend breakfast for Brisbane, Gold Coast and after 10am, all over Queensland for the entirety of 2020 yet has only been deemed a fill in?

The strange IR and marketing by the ABC never ceases to disappoint.

Kate is a capable broadcaster with a great producer and prior to her current role, was the Gold Coast only weekend announcer.

Karen Tighe has opened up on her ordeal of suffering from viral encephalitis which led to life-threatening inflammation of her brain. She hopes to return to broadcasting in October 2021.

Thought I was having a nightmare. No I awoke this morning at around 2.30am with the radio still on, listening to ABC Local radio Overnights program to the horrible sound of callers singing their Christmas songs.
What on earth could presenter Michael Pavlich & the show’s producer be thinking?
Nothings turns off listeners more than listening to people phone up & start singing on the radio.
I thought I was listening to the John Laws show, where that exercise might be common place. Surely the ABC can’t be that hard up for callers & staff & production costs.

I was right I was having a nightmare, but it was real.
I had to take immediate remedial action & had to switch to 2GB.

How to loose listeners, just ask callers to ring in & start singing

Maybe they’re fans of Radio Red Faces? Power FM used to run it back in the day. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s not. Not even on 2SM.

Only the disabled Dale that John has had an association with since Dale was a boy.

This is the rubbish that the ABC deem worthy. They simply don’t care. It is bad programming. My Christmas treat is not to listen to the z-grade fill in teams on the ABC local radio. Replays of Adams on RN now sound more interesting.

Local radio summer sucks. Radio National summer is quite good however.

Exactly, many compelling hours of radio to hear again.

I notice that ABC’s current affairs shows AM, The World Today and PM have taken a shorter than usual break. Normally they would be off air for two weeks during Christmas and New Year period, but they only took last Friday off due to Christmas and returned to air today.

Rachel Mealey has been filling in for Linda Mottram on PM since December 23.

Sally Sara is still presenting The World Today.

Kim Landers is presenting AM while Sabra Lane prepares to relocate from Canberra to Hobart in January.

Has there been any local or state based shifts on any day over the Christmas - New year week on ABC Local Radio?

I notice that the final bulletin of state newsrooms is midday. Hopefully that will return to 7pm from Monday?

Tasmania has had a state based breakfast show each morning with John X from Hobart. I think that ran each weekday except for the public holidays and this morning was the usual state based weekend breakfast but with Mel Bush instead of Joel Rheinberger.

I have a feeling there may have been a local drive or afternoon show in there sometime during the week too but I do know we’ve also had a lot of the national programming too - it could also even have been a Tasmanian presenter doing the national shift.

Appear to be problems with ABC signals in QLD tonight.

Currently with no input or interrupted input on ABC Fm, ABC PNN and ABC RN in Gympie plus Wide Bay.

A recorded message cut in then programming returned.
