ABC Local Radio

A lack of consistency is never a good way to build an audience.

Nicole Chvastek is hosting Drive on ABC Melbourne this week, filling in for Rafael Epstein.

I love the concept of Australia all over, I love it even better when somebody else hosts it. When Maca starts playing those stupid jingles it just makes you want to turn off. Come on ABC, it needs modernising desperately

Easter Monday 13 April -
I tuned into ABC Melbourne this morning for the 7.45am news. Instead I heard the voice of Sammy J continuing his show right up to 8am, followed by five minutes of news and then AM. ABC’s budget is so tight that it can’t even do a 15 minute news!
Also, I hear Sammy J saying that his show was being broadcast into Queensland this morning, so I wonder if there was any technical difficulties on ABC Brisbane or other stations across the Sunshine State.

Has been no 7:45am news since Thursday in Tas and this morning North Tas had John X from Hobart going statewide.

I heard this rubbish on Saturday, disgusted with the ABC. Sack the money gobbling middle management in Ultimo and Southbank and reinvest that into programming instead of trying to cut on air for political point scoring.

Wow, really? Tight again, still, might have been better than the alternative of fill in from Brisbane, they have some shockers.

Another interesting observation on Saturday morning, ABC Toowoomba has local news headlines at 8:30 am.

Angela Catterns joined the ABC Lismore presenter after 8:30 am too. They made for a good team.

ABC won two awards in 2020 New York Festivals Radio Awards today.

I’m on the Central Coast, does anyone know what the ABC is doing at 6am tomorrow for driveway dawn service? Will they play The Last Post and have a minutes silence?

They will broadcast the National Dawn Service from Canberra which will include The Last Post and one minutes silence “around 6am” I guess it’s out of their hands to be bang on 6.

ABC North Coast have replaced their sign this week. But in the process have revealed the old Birdwing Butterfly logo. Remember when each local area had their own logo? If anyone has copies of any of the old logos I’d love to see them.

On that above post, when did the ABC adopt the ‘Goldfields FM’ and ‘Oasis FM’ brands for their Victorian stations?

That poster is lovely! I’d love one.

Maybe when the FM services started? In those areas. Would hazard a guess the ABC Local outlets in these areas would have been from Horsham (3WV) or Corowa (2CO) so wanted something a bit more local.
