Bob Murphy has apologised on-air this morning for the inappropriate âSpearmint Rhinoâ comments he made to Sharnelle Vella on yesterdayâs show.
I missed that. What did he say?
Vella said: âI remember when I worked in retail many moons ago when I was still in high schoolâŚâ
But Murphy quickly interjected, saying: âNot at Spearmint Rhino?â
Vella flatly responded by saying: âNoâ, before pausing and then continuing with her point. 'I couldnât afford to go to a financial advisor, so I was doing my tax return myself.
âI guess thatâs why people are looking on social media,â she added, before asking Kasapidis on whether she had any good advice for people looking to do their tax on their own.
What a pig,
Thatâll be the end of that partnership by the end of the year.
I canât even see how that is meant to be funny?
Because anything to do with strip clubs is meant to be funny?
And no Iâve never been in one. So dont ask.
yikes
Yeah, they were two bits that stood out for me too from that article. I like Bob Murphy and I thought it was odd for ABC for him but from that story and the response to the apology Iâd say things arenât going to last long.
Meanwhile across Bass Strait we have the best radio pairing for only about 5 minutes too early in the morning. The producer for Northern Tas breakfast gets on and goes through some of the overnight news and manages to mangle every sporting code ever and it just turns into a complete pisstake every morning of things and with Kim Napier bagging her and apparently throwing pens or calling her a cow one day. I try to wake up in time to hear it each day about 5:50 in the morning but itâs a great start for the day with those two.
Right⌠geez, Iâm surprised actually. How disappointing. Their radio chemistry seemed good and Iâve been enjoying their show.
Surely itâs saved on the ABC Listen app? Sounds hilarious
This one was yesterdayâs - started out with bagging the Kate Bush song a bit that Sunny Woods slipped in the playlist and then we got her explanations about cricket and the origin of the Ashes and then Wrexham. I wouldnât trust either of these two this early in the morning for their sports knowledge but Kim does like her sport and her son is often talked about for his role with St Kilda in the AFL - from memory he does ground announcements and the entertainment for the team so they often talk about St Kilda.
Starts at about the 10 minute mark - after Kate Bush running up that hill and then running down again.
Doesnât sound as bad as I was expecting, bit of a laugh first thing of a morning!
Just me or has ABC made it really hard to find a lot of their local radio news bulletins on the website??? They are still available via the ABC Listen app but I would prefer to listen on the Web.
Yeah Ollie Geale, who is also co-host of the dan does footy podcast.
Rafael Epstein is back on air this morning after taking last week off.
Try finding and listening to AM on the Listen app. Rather than bring up the programme with that name first, it suggests ABC Radio Sydney, ABC Radio Canberra, ABC Radio Melbourne⌠very annoying.
And when I have the phone connected to the car on Android Auto, I canât search programmes by name at all. Itâs terrible. If I want to listen to a programme, I have to pick up the phone and find it there, press play, and then the car plays it.
Yes, ABC Listen is appalling. I have actually managed to hack together some RSS Feeds for my favourite shows so I can listen using my preferred podcast player and avoid ABC Listen.
Bobâs joke was out of taste but I agree with Rob that Vellaâs comments following his apology have ruined the show.
VELLA: âI wonât let you off the hook on it. It wasnât OK.â âI appreciate your words, but we do move on.â
How awkward. You wouldnât see this sort of genuine tension between Ross and Russ or Kyle and Jackie O.
Chris Taylor is filling in for Phillip Clark on Nightlife this week.
Also Paul Gough filled in for Rory McLaren on mornings in Adelaide today.
