Australia’s top on-demand free-to-air BVOD service, ABC iview, has released two new films via Howatson+Company.
Directed by Freddy Mandy, the ads subvert well-known tropes from popular genres, such as reality TV and teen sci-fi.
Frontline wins the award for worst “remastering” ever.
Whoever did the mockumentary stuff forgot to put their glasses on. It’s blurry, the colours are off and are oversaturated.

FRIDAY 30 MAY 6.00AM
Can new girl Aoife turn her schools rubbish basketball team into winners and make herself popular and cool at the same time?
When Aoife starts a new school she is determined to reinvent herself and attract cool new friends. Only she ends up crashing into the basketball try outs for the school’s very uncool girls 3x3 basketball team. They have never won a match and once they realise Aoife is an award-winning baller, they are desperate for her to join the team.
Aoife resists, instead she puts her energies into fitting in with the popular Jessica gang. Only when Jessica gets mean and seems determined to humiliate the newly christened Vipers basketball team, Aoife can take no more and steps in to do the right thing.
Nothing major (cause its a niche/small show), but I think ABC or ABC iView messed up with their upload of a kids/teen TV show.
I saw on TikTok that Season 10 and the Final season of ‘The Next Step’ was available on iView on June 27th, but instead of only uploading the first 10 episodes, they had all 20 episodes on iView for 2-3 days. The extra episodes have since been removed.
I think in Canada (where the show is filmed) & the UK (CBBC is major broadcaster), part 2 is coming out in September, so iView definitely made a mistake releasing the entire season and causing a lot of spoilers to be on social media.
Classic ABC, releasing the season early.
Didn’t they do that with TDI as well last year or so?
With this show, it was the final season of the show and somehow Australia had world exclusive access to the final 10 episodes. On TikTok and other socials there was people from Canada and England using VPN’s to access those episodes so they can avoid spoilers and because they didn’t want to wait until September when it was meant to come out
It was released 27th and yesterday morning the extra episodes were gone. It took them 3 days to remove - maybe it being the weekend didn’t help

ABC to overhaul its digital front end, consolidate web platforms
The ABC will merge its core digital offerings — ABC Iview, ABC Listen and ABC News — into a single web homepage as a part of a major digital overhaul.
In its latest annual report, the broadcaster announced its plans to “simplify” its digital footprint by bringing the three services together on the web, and to continue AI experimentation.
Mumbrella understands the ABC will maintain the separate apps, but “create a single online entry point anchored in news” while surfacing entertainment and lifestyle content from across the broadcaster.
