In line with the multichannel changes, the live experience on ABC iview will become more dynamic with four digital streams to launch in June. The streams will focus on four dedicated genres, children’s LIVE action, animation, education, and family viewing, meaning content is available as live streams as well as on demand whenever audiences choose. Introducing ABC Family and ABC Entertains - About the ABC
Oh it’s good that they’ve got fast channels, didn’t realise they were doing more on digital which makes sense. However still that programming schedule belongs on the fourth nine or seven digital channels not the third ABC channel…so disappointing.
They should’ve just made another new channel called ABC Big Kids as well as ABC Family and Entertains
Assuming all kids will watch iView is kind of dumb in my opinion
Just realised they are going to have a ABC Education block on ABC Entertains from 9 to 3 just make up your mind ABC either have it all on iView for big kids or on a seperate channel
ABC - 20 - 24/7
ABC Entertains -21 - 24/7
ABC Kids - 22 - until 8pm
ABC Big Kids - 23 - until 2am
ABC Family - 24 - until 11pm
ABC Featured -25 - until 3am
ABC News - 26 - 24/7 and repeats
And still keep the other shows and FAST channels on iView
Get rid of Entertains. the main channel is meant to entertain as well. it is a public broadcaster’s remit to Inform, Educate and Entertain. I can never understand why they seem to be reluctant with broader entertainment shows. If the BBC can do it so can our Aunty on the main channel.
I hate this sort of advertising. “A brand new channel”. It’s sneaky language. Yes, it’s technically brand new but it’s replacing another channel. It just makes it sound like a new addition to the line up when it really isn’t.
Exactly! I think they kind of knew however if they did brand it as a “replacement” the amount of immediate backlash would be very intense, so they like you said branded it more as a “new channel”.
Although in my opinion I always thought that ABC 2 was very good at what it did back in the day, it was a great shame when they replaced it with more of a niche audience with ABC Comedy, which failed (no surprises there, good idea but you can’t have just one channel just solely focusing on comedy, it might work for Foxtel, but not for the ABC)
