ABC Entertains - Programs and Schedules (formerly ABC ME)

Since I think ABC Family is going to be in until 4am with only a short break at midnight of like 20 mins

No break at midnight.

Damn so that’s like the end of midnight ABC close-down’s too

Yes - along with random shows appearing at midnight on ABC ME, and then coming back on for a 90 second news update at 3:40am.

End of a era that’s for sure reflects our modern culture though

Only thing is that this is the first and last closedown for ABC Entertains

I am also a bit concerned that teens will be more encouraged to be watching programs at like 4am
Since they are now available on linear television via ABC Family

Not like they don’t already do it with YouTube, etc already but still

Still closedown at around 4am for about 45 minutes.

I wonder why they have 45 minutes maybe to put the new shows in the auto play out?

Could also be to have a break in between the more mature programming and kids/teen programming.

Ah sorry didn’t know mate
It just seemed to be like one of those ‘that can’t be real’ videos
But now that it’s real I wonder if they were just testing internal graphics?

Has there been talk on this thread about the loss of older kid shows in the after-school block on ABC Entertains? Growing up, ABC 3 had the best tween to teen content after-school with fabulous original content like Dance Academy. Now looking at the schedule it’s Speechless from 3:30PM, WILTY at 4PM, Mythbusters at 4:30PM, George Clark’s Amazing Spaces at 5:20PM and Car SOS at 6:11PM.

Surely the ABC is just shooting themselves in the foot by completely ignoring older kids? Yes ABC family programs would appeal to kids this age but that doesn’t start until 7:30PM. Also there’s been no talk of the loss of original tween/teen programming. Is this all going to ABC Family now?

After school is the best time for older kid programs as parents are busy at work or preparing dinner. it’s all well and good to have a co-viewing channel starting at 7:30PM, but tweens and teens need their own shows that can speak to issues that appeal to them and that mum and dad won’t watch. You need privacy and space to figure out what you like away from family at that age and the ABC seems to be stepping back from that?

So what is the ABC engagement going to be now, Young kids and toddlers and then 35+? what kind of short-sighted planning is this? Lose the older kid market and what little teen content they had also…Nobody wants to watch old reruns. My Family, Mythbusters, Car SOS and ER are on twice today. WILTY is on three times! This just seems like a budget cut. why don’t these shows go on the ABC TV daytime slot? Because even the ABCTV audience would see these OLD shows as poor quality for daytime, let alone a full channel.

Apologies for the long rant. Just annoyed at the ABC for ruining a unique channel for yet more reruns.

Argument is that those older kids are now streaming on ABC iView.
