AACTA Awards

Rachel Kayrooz’s Facing the Fear and Jayden James and George Harrington’s Mr. Wolf were named joint winners of this year’s award.

Have they announced the nominations for the audience based awards yet (sponsored bt the news. com site), apart from the Best Digital performer award?

And who’ll be the host for the awsrds on Wednesday?

I think the rest of audience based awards will be announced this Sunday as an exclusive in News Corp papers.

Strange. They usually have high profile actors hosting.

It is a bit like a late night talk show host at the helm of the Academy Awards ceremony (Jimmy Kimmel will host next year’s event).

Well… thats different. I would have tipped her to host the logies before the AACTAs.

I hope Amanda Keller does a good job hosting this.

Maybe this could be a gateway gig to hosting the Logies - Amanda won’t be a 10 talent by next year’s event on 7.

Watching the broadcast right now, I notice that are cuts here and there (such as when award presenters and winners walk to the stage and audience applause). I feel there is a reason that this year’s AACTA Awards were held in the afternoon, but will it have been better if it is held in primetime and broadcast live in Sydney and Melbourne, like the BAFTAs and the Oscars?

I can also hear the echo from the laughs and applause from the audience on TV.

There are definitely some heavy handed edits in this broadcast but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s still a million times better than the ARIA Awards a few weeks ago.
