I think it would be a reflection on tonight’s result. Going through most of the results in more detail I believe.
They did that already.
Is it on now?
Not yet, it is currently 9:53pm in Brisbane, the movie might overlap by a couple of minutes due to delays.
I don’t think it’s coming back mate. Usher said at the end more coverage on Sunrise tomorrow and across the day tomorrow.
Yep, I think the movie might as well take over its slot.
EDIT: Nine is airing a “special”, recapping the major conferences, and updating as the final 30% of votes are counted.
Too little too late from Nine.
Perth viewers last September abruptly had the Front Bar cut off early in the show with no warning for coverage on the Queen’s health which would become the death of the Queen the next morning.
any caps, reviews, or news on how SKY covered it?
Some BTS shots for those interested about how it was covered by 6 News anchored from Melbourne:
And on the producer’s end in Brisbane:
Yep - that’s way too big. Agree re use of the term ‘wins’. Should be ‘referendum defeated’ or something.
Glad to see you’ve got your eye on the Hawks there Leo… ![]()
Defeated, unsuccessful, no change would all be better. I didn’t see anyone else use the term “wins”, even Sunrise.
Referendums are so far and few between, the graphics operator simply didn’t know the right terminology to use. Hopefully a senior producer corrected it later on, but given the nature of live news they probably were preoccupied and the graphics op initially proceeded with “NO WINS” with out senior approval.
We haven’t seen it again used on Seven so simply an unfortunate mistake.
Brisbane bulletins saw Seven lead with the story while it was 4th or 5th on Nine. Both supplemented the national graphics.
Reportedly Triple J spent the whole 5-6pm hour playing Yothu Yindi’s Treaty on a loop.
A very emotionally mature response from the ‘national broadcaster’.
That kind of nonsense does nothing but add fodder for Sky. Don’t they ever learn their lesson?
If I didn’t know any better, I’d say both Sky and ABC have been working in unison to maintain relevance.
I’ve generally been of the view that the ABC has been impartial in the past but I must say, between this today, last night’s coverage, and the coronation coverage, there has been a definite bias of late.
The only thing that stunts like this ends up doing is aggravate people and does not make any intelligent contribution to the national conversation.
On the other hand, it also provides material for Sky After Dark which is depressing but if done right, could be freaking hilarious watching their presenters froth at the mouth about ‘Channel 2’ so they can go down the dumps even more ![]()
On a serious note, they need to build a bridge and move on. We’re all accepting this result and we’re now looking for better ways forwards. Disappointment should be turned into motivation for a better future. Upwards and onwards we must!
What was wrong with ABC last night? I didn’t see all of their coverage but from what i saw they had commentary and reports from both No and Yes sides?
