Just because she also does those sorts of interviews shouldn’t detract from the quality of others. It’s sad that she has to do both. But the way that she asks questions of those that need holding to account is very very good - respectful but just firm enough to get the tough answers.
Oh 100% it’s a waste. My personal hope is that if she were to move on from ACA she relocate to 60 Minutes and have a weekly long form interview segment to really showcase her skills.
I will concede that it is annoying that ACA promote her as the best interviewer in the country and then only show it a few times a year
Given how long she’s been in the industry for (2021 is TG’s 40th year at Nine last I checked) I would’ve thought the day Tracy Grimshaw leaves ACA is also quite likely to be the same one she retires from television.
As for those “Australia’s Best Interviewer” promos…while Nine no doubt agrees with that claim, I personally think the media in this country does have some interviewers who are better than TG.
Sure.
I’m no fan of her interviewing. She often cuts them off, asks some most bizarre and ridiculous questions.
I’ve been a vocal critic of ACA in the past, but I just watched her tonight on 9now and, wow, she packed a punch and no amount of vacuous platitudes and mock disdain could pull him out of this hole, he just kept digging down. What’s the bet he declined appearing with Leigh Sales on 730 all this week, thinking he’d get a soft interview from ACA, and how that backfired on him. Good! He can’t possibly have walked away from that thinking it’s made him look good. But then, he is pretty much that clueless…
Nine really needs to give Tracey more scope to do these long form interviews because when she does them, she’s good.
This is exactly my point. She gets the answers by being firm, but not harsh or mean. I agree, it felt like Scomo was lulled into a false sense of security with ACA and Tracy hit the nails on the head. It’s just such a pity that her brand has been diluted with the other shit that she has to present most nights.
Brisbane is showing part of the ACA now after the NRL game - as it wasn’t shown at 7pm - part of 9 News Late.
And she conveyed the emotion and frustration that so many of us are feeling with our government. It was lost on him, of course.
Probably the same across the country - one version of the late news?
Kudos to Tracy Grimshaw on 7.30 from Leigh Sales and Laura Tingle. They said it was a good interview.
If that’s the case, his office clearly didn’t do their research. I say that because if they did, they would realize how vocal Tracy has been about the government’s handling of recent events
Maybe his staff are just as frustrated and told him relax, it will be fine.
ACA aired on 9GEM Brisbane at 7pm tonight.
Was good to see someone nail the PM and make him start facing the music. He’s had too long of a honeymoon with the Australian media but I get the sense that is starting to change. Maybe it took him to falsely accuse one of their own for the tide to turn.
I’m glad, he has a lot of answering to do on so many topics.
So glad ACA did this last night. I couldn’t get past the constant smug smirk on his face. He’s a man who can’t even show empathy.
Great interview, she really needs to do more of these.
The PM has been declining the invitation from 7.30 to be interviewed by Leigh Sales for weeks now, lots of praise for Tracy from ABC hosts and reporters on social media following her interview.
Like…?
