At the end of last year there were headlines like
A Current Affair to swipe big name stars from rival The Project
The story being that ACA producers want to âstealâ some of The Projectâs younger audience with âcelebrity interviewsâ.
It then went on to discuss the talents and current use of Tracey Grimshaw âwho has a reputation as one of Australian televisionâs best interviewers. Too often, though, Grimshaw spends her time as A Current Affair host topping and tailing other journalistsâ reports. If Williams gets his way, viewers will see more of Grimshaw doing what she does best.â
Anyone who watches the show care to comment on how this is going and any evidence of it this year? I havenât noticed any different approach in the promos Iâve seen.
Havenât watched it. The only memorable promo Iâve seen is Martin King being mobbed in the street last week. Iâve always admired his sticking to the well-worn ACA script of chasing dodgy salesmen down the street, but I didnât realise he was that popular.
This is just absolute gutter journalism.
Did anybody just see this last story, with this idiot reporter throwing herself into the car door to create drama. They did the same last time I watched, the car reversed and the reported was hanging onto the door.
Pathetic.
BOURKE STREET TRAGEDY BRAVE FAMILIES BREAK THEIR SILENCE
Monday at 7.00pm
In a moving episode of A Current Affair on Monday night at 7.00pm on Channel Nine, the families of those who were killed and injured in the Bourke Street tragedy in Melbourne will open up about the devastating impact it has had on their lives.
On January 20, a car ploughed through pedestrians in the centre of Melbourneâs CBD, leaving six people dead and more than 30 in hospital. Some of them remain seriously injured.
Martin King, one of Australiaâs most experienced broadcasters, will present an unmissable episode of A Current Affair, in which those affected speak about how their lives were changed forever.
Parents and loved ones will share their heartache with the nation, bravely recounting the aftermath of the events that turned their lives upside down.
But amid all the mayhem, there were also miracles.
A Channel 9 spokeswoman said the police presence was related to a âpersonal matterâ.
âItâs not to do with the program or a story,â she said.
Shocked staff members looked on as at least seven New South Wales Police officers entered the office armed with evidence bags on Thursday morning.
News.com.au understands Nine news boss Darren Wick and members of the networkâs legal team were in the ACA office as the police operation unfolded.
Staff members were asked to leave the office as a search warrant was carried out.
David Tench has joined A Current Affair.
A Current Affair staffer linked to child pornography offences in office raid
His monotone patronizing, slowwwwwwwâŚworrrrrrded⌠pronunciation and voice drives me nuts! Listen to his next story he does!
Tonightâs program should be interesting⌠as will Sevenâs reporting of the event.
Will it get a mention at all? Unlikely IMO.
If the matter goes to trial, will the defendant ambush themselves for a doorstop interview whilst leaving the court?
@parano1a if it does go to court seven news Sydney reporter Laura Banks will be there shoving a microphone in the persons face âŚ
In all seriousness though, they will have to say something. Even if itâs just Tracey reading a brief statement that they are fully co-operating with the police investigation and cannot comment further at this time tor legal reasons.
Yes, I think something among those lines will be said on ACA tonight.
Wow. Thatâs pretty big news! I wonder how he will like the all media attention and stories about his personal life?
This may be some behind the scenes staffer. Donât get too excited.
Robert Ovadia had been told otherwise (check his twitter)
The attached article from SMH above, suggests a certain reporter. However, Peter Ford is currently suggesting that the identity of the alleged offender hasnât been released.
