Hard not to wonder where Sarah Harris might’ve ended up had she stayed with Nine. She’s a star but it’s very unusual for Nine to bring in someone from outside the network for these high profile roles.
True, but if they (Nine) can find a Leigh Sales or someone else with a similar competency who would like the role, go get em!
With Amelia coming back home to join 60Mins, I wouldn’t disagree with this idea.
According to Peter Ford, Tracy wanted to leave last year but was talked around with a 4 day week.
17 years is an amazing achievement. Is Tracey the longest host in ACA’s history?
I reckon Sylvia Jeffreys would be the frontrunner. This would mean Belinda Russell could move to Today Extra.
Only downside would be another reshuffle on Weekend Today.
Yeah and MAF’s can go too…….we can dream
All for this, Sylvia is still very strong at Breaking News coverage even after being shunted onto Today Extra for a few years, she would make a great candidate. As for Today Extra, that is a better quality show when Belinda is hosting with DC, and I personally can’t stand Belinda Russell.
Another shuffle to Weekend Today, probably inevitable anyway.
Yes.
Mike Willesee, Mike Munro and Jana Wendt did five years or so each, Ray Martin’s two stints totalled about 10 years.
Unless if the show becomes more newsier, I somehow doubt she will be interested in doing the stories on dodgy tradies, shonky builders and of course the guy that barks like a dog. She’s too good for those kinds of stories.
She used to present them on Today Tonight when she was the Sydney host.
I suggested to a former well known MS user that ACA would probably have a rotation of hosts rather than a permanent one. But it looks like Nine is keen on finding a permanent host. I don’t blame them given how the rotation of hosts experiment worked so well for the ABC’s Q&A.
Who do you want to be the next host of ACA?
- Karl Stefanovic
- Leila McKinnon
- Deborah Knight
- Sylvia Jeffreys
- Melissa Doyle
- Sarah Harris
- Sarah Abo

I’m impartial to all those choices. I think Melissa Doyle would be the standout but all of them would be great choices.
I was tempted to chuck Brady Halls in there
Peter Ford on 6PR this morning saying Karl has already put his hand up for the gig. According to him, Karl and Sylvia Jeffreys are the front runners. He also said nobody in the production office was aware the announcement would be made and they only found out when Tracey went off script during the close. Only a select few executives knew.
DT also running a poll. (It features Leila, Sylvia, Deb, Brooke Boney, Erin Molan, Samantha Armytage, Karl and Sarah Harris.)
It’s had 850 votes, and Deb is the front runner by a large margin.
Is the show still filmed in Melbourne? Might be a good idea to get a Melbourne based host to counteract the heavy Sydney influence at the network.
