Did 7plus skip five months’ worth of new episodes?
It says Ep 36 to 90 as Season 32
Then has ep 7611 to 7622 as Season 31
I had a quick look and it does look like there are some missing from the beginning of this year but I haven’t gone into them to have a look.
Must have been a mistake they removed a heap now the latest is Maeve being rescued from drowning.
bit of a random question but does anyone know how long it takes for a new show to appear on 7plus after it has gone to air?
Usually as soon as the show has finished airing on the broadcast channel. Some shows maybe delayed until they have aired in Perth however.
I think all the networks wait until a show airs in Perth before making it available for streaming.
It depends on the show. I know Home and Away is available on 7Plus straight after it’s aired. I noticed the other day that the 6pm news from Sydney was available just after 7pm.
Well, the news is regional so that makes sense. I’m surprised Home and Away is available so soon. Does that mean it’s available in Perth before it actually screens or are there geo restrictions?
I think they can use geo-restrictions now. The show I was trying to watch was on at 8:30 pm and was uploaded by 9:40 pm.
From a technical standpoint you generally can Geo Restrict the content but it is only as good as the database 7plus use. It can not be very accurate and ISP’s can change them at any time
The vast majority of users of 7Plus live on the east coast and if they make Home and Away available in WA 2 hours earlier would they loose a ton of revenue as a result? I think not. If it was the finale of The Voice that’s a different story.
Seven could restrict access based on the post code that the user has registered with.
They used to do that a few years ago but if they restricted based on post code only that would make it easier for a Perth based user to watch the finale of say The Voice ahead of the broadcast. Using IP based Geo Restrictions make it harder for a user to change their location. Most IP databases will tell you that your IP is in Australia and based in NSW for example but if a ISP buys a new IP address scope it can take time for the databases to be updated. If the IP address scope is changed from QLD to WA the same thing happens but that would happen for a small percentage of users. Most users in WA would need to use a VPN to see the results earlier which only tech savy people would and die hard fans would be bothered to do. It’s no different to someone calling a friend in the eastern states to find out the result.
Now that streaming counts towards ratings I dont think it matters as much.
Where something is pre-recorded, I think it can be available straight away. Something live (like news) takes a little longer to turn around.
Season 3 premieres on 7plus tomorrow (Friday) at 9pm.
7Plus have now uploaded S6 (2005 here) of SVU. They needed rights, as on broadcast 7flix are up to S5 this Sunday and would only take a matter of weeks before running out. L&O franchise has been performing solid, at least on broadcast total people Sundays.
Nine have now lost the rights to the OG L&O and CI, with only SVU S11 (9Now and on broadcast 9Gem Mondays including 9:30pm tonight - also moved earlier - maybe they caught on to its perfoemance on Seven and milking value while still licenced) and the newer Organised Crime spin-off.
And of course 10 still hold first runs and encores of those, where it’s loyal fanbase to the tune of mid-100k metro are still watching, on par with a Seven/Nine Saturday night movie, so bad for a show even today, but maybe respectable for 10’s standards. Obviously still a popular show and longevity, I believe longest running scripted live action in the USA, unless it ends and NCIS overtakes one day.
Yesterday saw a record for 7Plus
JAG originally aired on 7
Watching the replay of The Voice’s ultimate callback episode on the 7plus app on my mobile tonight, I notice that the captions are 10 seconds behind the pictures. It starts in the fourth segment (Team Rita’s first callback battle) and goes right to the end.
Does it happen to anyone else?
