Not on Foxtel so won’t bother with it at this stage, the PQ is acting like streaming where it can look good then it looks terrible. The audio doesn’t sound quite right. With HD main channels and foxtel HD why would I waste time watching 7flix. Least make it look half decent even the MTV music channels look better. Maybe they should’ve launched 7HD today then a more steady bitrate could be used but nope they don’t wanna announce 7HD and instead keep MPEG 2 HD . No wonder back in the old media spy days they were known as channel 4:3
Noticed quite a few complaints on Facebook from viewers not receiving audio. Odd because I thought the leading complaint would be lack of video due to old equipment. Not looking good for Seven.
Pretty sure I’m only getting mono sound on our tv for this channel.
Its coming out as mono audio for a few older MPEG4 TVs. 7flix is using HE-AAC v2 with Parametric Stereo extensions.
So if you using an older MPEG4 TV that only supports LC-AAC or HE-ACC v1 then you will only get mono audio. Why Seven doesn’t use a more common codec so that everyone gets the same quality audio.
Just flicked over to this new channel to see what it was like before I go to bed and they are literally cycling through three ads over and over. Carpet Call, Pacific Magazines and Hogs Breath Cafe (haven’t seen one of their ads on Sydney TV for quite a while!).
Seems like Seven need to get a few more advertisers onboard. I’ve seen regularly repeated ads in the middle of the night before but never a loop of three advertisers playing over and over.
I’m getting HEC v1.20 audio sound. Does it mean I am getting mono sound or what?
My tv channels say MPEG, AAC or Dolby Digital.
Surely they could have done something other than AAC ?
I couldn’t get 7flix. Not that I am too worried.
Are you guys getting audio on RACING.COM or TV4ME?
Yes.
Yes I can get the audio of those channels just fine, although I never really watch either 4ME or RACING.COM that often!
From what I can see if you’re getting audio on RACING.COM you should be getting audio on 7flix as they are set up the same. TV4ME is the only one that is different. Adobe Premiere Pro will only load audio from TV4ME.

Prime said in a statement to Mumbrella it has “no commercial arrangements” in place to carry the new channel saying it is “technically challenging, takes time and requires substantial capital investment” to broadcast a new channel to vast regional areas.
This is sort of why I think having the metros own all the regionals would get rid of this problem … .maybe
I can’t work out why WIN which is a big regional broadcaster, has been so efficient and quick at being able to get their new channels to regional areas. Maybe 9 and WIN has commercial agreements in place ? Or was it expected due to the 6 month affiliation agreement ?
As a Prime viewer I wont be holding my breath. At least it can be watched online if needed.
The regionals always trot out that line. Shouldn’t take too long for them to start carrying it. Always have the Plus7 stream in the meantime
I’m honestly surprised that the regional networks haven’t used the reach rules as an excuse for not rolling out the recently launched channels!
In any case, both Prime and SCA really should’ve known that Seven would be launching a new channel well in advance especially with that “New Channel Coming Soon” slide running in Seven O&O markets for about six weeks (I’m sure it was on before Christmas) before the 7Flix announcement!
An additional problem for Prime is that AFAIK they have an extra datacast aka shopping channel to Seven so finding spectrum would be harder.
Yeah, I’m quite sure that Prime7 run iShop TV (although oddly not in the GWN7 markets if I’m not mistaken) in MPEG4 along with 4ME and RACING.COM.
I think the real shame will be when 7HD arrives and Prime are not interested in that either.
Couldn’t they just remove the shopping channel , assuming people don’t watch it. How do these channels even make money?
