7flix - Programs and Schedules

Seems like the show is a better fit to 7Two rather than 7Flix.

I see what you mean, but I think they’re trying to target a young demographic and would be in-line with 7flix’s former long-running and regularly solid rating ‘Criminal Minds’ Thursday marathon. Whereas 7Two goes for much older and is nearly all ‘British’ (as opposed to American procedurals). I’d back them, at least on their conceptual strategy, as they historically have the strongest m/c suite.

It could also be a longer-term play, as 7flix on Sundays has struggled in recent years to gain traction with constantly changing line-ups, often barely or even below 1% against the might of the week’s best reality show episodes on main channels.

And Noth has now been cancelled.

Yes, fair point actually. Fall from grace. And he was just in hit (at least over there momentarily) “The Equalizer” show, which Nine aired.

I noticed flix was on point last night on the half-hour with Law & Order and with SVU - 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30. Not something you see with scheduling these days.

Why aren’t FG and AD on Seven yet? Surely they’ll have to have new episodes soon.

We’re not sure they will return, we’re waiting to see, it’s been discussed Simpsons/ FG/ AD stopped airing suddenly last week and the latter two a month or two back and could be something to do with a Seven output expiring and no longer (via Disney) being allowed to renew or wish not to…

If I recall correctly Seven has life of series rights for FG/AD but only for premières of episodes, where once it has aired it is no longer life of series, similar to how 10 get first rights to Law and Order: SVU but Seven get repeats, which means Ten can hold off airing premieres so Seven are forced to wait until Ten has aired it. Seven can onsell first rights of FG/AD to Disney if they want to.

Saw a promo today for the Chris Brown eps of Bondi Vet. When did Seven pick that up?

Started last Sunday. They have been burning through double episodes of Season 1 each night. Season 2 starts Tuesday.

It was discussed a little during the week too, with the channel’s share nose-diving following Simpsons departing but Cynic saying 7flix is still doing alright in key demos compared with others m/c including the new and seemingly struggling sister 7Bravo, while also hinting flix’s remaining share is being held up by shows other than Bondi such as Criminal Intent and Ramsay:

Last year they held off on showing new FG/AD until May and they’re probably going to do the same this year. They should just give it to Disney.

They are probably holding them back deliberately so Disney can’t release them.

Do we even know if Seven still have any rights, we haven’t even heard from them via say TVT yet in regards to Simpsons (and FG/AD) all being suddenly pulled and replaced with other promoted shows. And their wider Fox and Disney content supply agreements. I’m sure we’ll hear something eventually from a news masthead or TVT / MW or Upfronts. Seven did spent big on securing AFL and NBCUniversal though.

Aren’t FG/AD life of series rights for Seven?

Only first run rights. The repeats are not life of series. Similar to how 10 have first rights to LAO:SVU but Seven have repeat rights.

didn’t know where to post this

Spotted a younger S Epatha Merkerson in an episode of “Law and Order” from the debut season back in 1989-1990, she’d later go on to play sqad commander Lt Anita Vanburen for more than 15 years from mid-90s to 2010. Also one of creator Dick Wolf’s closest stars/mates, now starring in his medical procedural and spin-off “Chicago Med”.

Law & Order is quite famous for re-using actors to play multiple characters. Jerry Orbach played a defence attorney before he joined the regular cast as Detective Lennie Briscoe, and Ice-T was a suspect in the Law and Order movie before becoming Detective Odafin Tutuola in SVU, among many others.

Yes. And the franchise has had a lot of guest actors too, some already famous in special appearances (Martin Short to name just one) and some before they became famous (Bradley Cooper for example), while also using characters from spin-offs or other detective teams in another sometimes.

Looking at Sunday’s EPG, looks like Seven have bumped the original Law & Order to 11.30pm with Criminal Intent taking its 7.30 timeslot. Onto record it goes…
