That Jerry-built tin shed in Willoughby was more appropriate for a country tv station than a network HQ.
With production staff forced to work in adjacent suburban cottages, no wonder most of the quality variety shows came from GTV

And Larry and Sonia are both Gold Logie winners and go way back in television; Nat Barr has been part of breakfast television for 23 years. I think they’ve all earned their place.

… was custom designed to be a television station whereas GTV was a converted piano then soup factory … “forced”? everyone I met at TCN loved the cottages away from the main building just as Graham Kennedy had a separate caravan at GTV where those “quality variety shows came from” …

I would say Seven will mark their anniversary on the 4th November when HSV7 was first launched.

I think you missed my point CeeJay: for a mid-century metropolitan TV facility, TCN was mission inadequate from day one, built on a small plot of land with limited room to expand. These failings can be directly linked to the impetuous and cheapness of its proprietor.
It’s a tribute to chief engineer Les Free and generations of dedicated staff that the facility managed to operate well past its use-by date.

Surprised they didn’t include any mention of the Seven or Nine iterations of Weakest Link - one of the most (if not the most) spiteful game shows this century. I know both versions didn’t rate well, but still…
Another forgotten game show included Shafted, which only lasted a matter of weeks on Nine in 2002.

Shafted aired for 8 weeks for 40 episodes in 2002 on Channel Nine there have been over 260 Game Shows to have aired on Australian TV mate in 70 years

The Weakest Link actually rated quite well when it first started but then those good ratings didn’t last long.
Better left forgotten as this one really was a flop.

The Weakest Link on Channel Seven had great ratings in 2001 and was very successful it was cancelled in April 2002.
