I wonder if there’d be interest in rotating hosting responsibilities between the networks like the Emmys. Could keep things from going stale year to year?
They did that for a while before they went back to 9
for many years
The Australian reports
Despite rampant speculation the intellectual property rights for television’s annual backslapping ceremony could be spun off after Mercury Capital put Are Media up for sale in July, the private equity firm insists the awards night won’t be sold separately.
Instead, Diary is told any prospective buyer interested in snapping up the event in perpetuity would also need to buy the title that started the awards, TV Week, as well as Are Media’s entire stable of glossy mags.
The Logies’ evolving place within the magazine business – and its predecessor Bauer Media – has long been a contentious topic … particularly given TV Week has increasingly little involvement with the awards night (outside charging Seven $250,000 a year to broadcast it).
Industry sources told Diary several key execs had actually pushed to sell the entire thing off to Nine for a cut-price couple of million back in 2022 before the network pulled its longstanding deal to air the gala completely and the rights shifted across town to Seven.

Logies Historians, has an individual Hall of Fame recipient ever been nominated for a Gold Logie after being inducted into the Hall of Fame?
Bert Newton was inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 1988 and was nominated for the Gold in 2006 (for Good Morning Australia) and in 2007 (for Family Feud and 20 to 1).
I can see Rebecca Gibney being nominated for the Gold again (after being inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2024). If Noni Hazlehurst and Magda Szubanski return to television work, they have a chance to be nominated too.
What has Rebecca done in the nomination period of April 25 - March 26 though? Surely Millionaire won’t have aired and I can’t see Seven putting her forward as a contestant on Dancing.
If Hot Seats starts in late January, 10 could put her up for the Gold. She would have been on air for 2 and a bit months (Logies timeframe is up to March 31).
When Rob Irwin was up for the Gold Logie in 2024, he had just started hosting I’m A Celebrity, which had just started airing on March 24, a week before the Logies Calendar year.
