Nine news boss under fire after ‘drunk’ Logies ‘sext’ scandal
Diary can reveal Nine staff were left stunned by a number of questionable remarks A Current Affair’s executive producer Amy McCarthy made on social media while letting her hair down at the television industry’s annual backslapping celebration last week.
Screenshots of a number of McCarthy’s posts have been widely circulating through the network’s Sydney newsroom in the wake of the knees-up, with many questioning the appropriateness of her off-colour comments.
In one post that landed in Diary’s inbox, McCarthy warned her followers she had just arrived at the TV Week Logie Awards at the harbour city’s Star casino and that she was ready to party.
“I can get drunk now. You thought you’d been spammed before!! Standby!” McCarthy said.
The experienced EP, who has been at the helm of Nine’s most-watched nightly news show since last June, later replied to her own post, saying: “Luckily my phone died before any evidence could be recorded.” Unluckily, it was not before she decided it was a good idea to upload a picture of Cold Chisel rocker Jimmy Barnes performing onstage, alongside a note declaring the 69-year-old rocker “deserves a spot on the grid! #wouldstilldohim”.
