64th TV Week Logie Awards 2024

It should be streamed live on 7plus in Adelaide and Perth as the minimum, so viewers can join in to discuss the ceremony on social media.

Neighbours’ last Logie win was in 2005, with Natalie Blair winning ‘Best New Talent’ and Neighbours being inducted into the ‘Hall of Fame’.

The show came very close in 2019 to winning many awards thanks to the Sonya cancer storyline… TV Week massively stuffed up their geo-targeted voting site and Neighbours fans in the UK could vote, earning the show 6 nominations. The second round of voting rectified their mistake… but I would bet money on Neighbours actually out voting most of the categories that year, largely down to the UK fans.

*Pending lengthy speeches, random music performances, and any Daryl Sommer’s blunders

Or they could also cut down the Adelaide News to 30 minutes, or shift the Red Carpet to 7Bravo.

For a minute I read this as Natalie Barr, and was confused as to why she would’ve been on Neighbours :stuck_out_tongue:

Not being live to SA and especially WA means those viewers will have to be aware of the cut off times for voting for some of the awards on the night.

I remember when the show was inducted and all the cast wore white and did a very unusual performance. The award was very much deserved but I felt getting the cast up on stage to sing the theme song was a bit strange, perhaps even insulting.

The Age Green Guide has an interview with Sam Pang.

I’ve enjoyed the few ads Seven has been airing for the Logies with Sam Pang, Ray Meagher and Larry Emdur. They’re pretty funny. But they should be promoting more now as the awards are just over a week away.

Also, it will be interesting in who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. A few names that have been popping up lately include Denise Drysdale, Daryl Somers, Working Dog Productions, Ann Sanders, and movie ctitics David and Margaret. To name a few.

Probably not worth it until the Olympics are over when more viewers will be back to watching Seven.

It would have to be Denise, surely. Hopefully.

Or Denise Scott would be a nice surprise

Why Denise Scott? She has only starred in two TV shows.

I think we can all agree his time has come

Probably should go to Drysdale or David & Margaret, but since it’s the Logie’s, it will probably go to Daryl.

Well, yes, for all the cringe that he brings as he’s got older, there is no denying he has had a long and successful career. Probably longer and more successful than some of the others that have already been inducted into the Hall of Fame. So while it might annoy a lot of people, I would not be totally opposed to him being named. But I think Denise Drysdale, for maintaining the best part of 60 years in showbusiness, is well overdue for such recognition. And there is the matter of what is still a huge gender imbalance in the hall of fame. In 40 years of the category I think we have 4 females versus about 30 males.

It’s the Logies - they will do anything to make it exceed the listed runtime.

In farness, Missy Higgins will be singing during the In Memoriam segment, while Guy Sebastion and Jess Mauboy will be joining together for a John Farnham tribute.

As for the Red Carpet segment, do we really need both Sonia Kruger and Chris Brown presenting? And do we really need it to go for 30 minutes? These days, its so drawn out. Back “in the day”, it would a couple of minutes montage heading into the ceremony. And show “the best and worst dressed”. And that’s that.
