63rd TV Week Logie Awards 2023

Yeah I was also aiming Julia to win too

They were up at the big people’s table, next to Warburton, Macpherson and Sonia. Wouldn’t want to get too big for their boots, as it goes against want Sunrise is supposed to be.: The show from the tin shed. Just an attitude thing.

I see. Probably not ideal considering his networks half ownership of Stan which commissions the show…. Bit grubby.

A man of the people

But don’t forget that the Gold Logie is not about being “good” but being “popular”. Being in a gazillion shows means she would be exposed to more viewers and potentially more people who can vote for her.

And also the way it’s been advertised Sonia was almost the spokesperson for The Logies this year.

Real people still have to vote.

Clearly people forgot about Sonia’s racist past with her extreme right wing comments. I’ve also found her quite talentless. But really there’s no accounting for the taste of the average Australian viewer.

its a shame Cheap Seats won and Mel was away

Ok, finally watched the whole thing on catch-up.

ITV did a wonderful job, it was much pacier, with no stupid pointless international guests or musical performers, and not 12 performances or whatever Nine were doing, Credit to Seven for getting a production house to produce it properly. Sam was great obviously, and the presenters were fine - award show banter is always hard. Having a host who knew when to keep out of the way but sprinkle in the jokes was much needed.

Having it back in a major city was a godsend - never take it away from Sydney or Melbourne again, it was a joke on the Gold Coast. Also the staging and use of the venue was very good - perfect size and the shape and look of the seating was much better than previous - much more like a proper awards show.

It was good to see how the industry has grown up with the networks, Foxtel and streamers all well represented - really well made quality dramas and comedies finally back up on stage after years away.

Let down at the end by Daryl’s nonsense, the Gold winner - meh it’s a popularity contest with online voting, I think overall a great success, and super happy to see the Logies return to being a well-crafted event, and not stuck in the 90s as it was with Nine.

And it’s Karl who gets the headlines for the dud joke that only he understood. :joy:

Kate Miller Heidke’s version of Xanadu was just beautiful.

Sam was virtually the only highlight of the show. The introductions for each category were terrible with the presenters rambling on and the jokes fell flat. Poh looked like she was being held hostage.

I voted Julia Morris to win the Gold Logie.

Bring back ‘TONIGHT LIVE’ with Sam Pang

It’s a one up on Tom Gleeson. I don’t think she cares.

That’s what happens when people present awards outside their area. Why were chefs from reality shows giving out the journalism award?

I take that comment more that she was uncomfortable on stage with Colin… Not that it wasn’t her area

It’s a fair point though. They could have had a better match up between presenters and awards. Some just made no sense at all.

You’ll always get awkward match ups.
They’ve been some cringing moments in the past.

she did look uncomfortable next to him.
