62nd TV Week Logie Awards 2021-22

And I was actually on the money :joy: what a guess.

It was woeful, her content wasn’t relevant to the last year of TV at all and that’s what makes a monologue really work. You need to chat about the nominees and poke fun at them in a light hearted way. I equally blame the producers as well for letting this go to air.

Julia’s not really a stand-up comedian as such and really has only ever done well when she’s doing a song and dance number or presenting with someone else. Hughesy’s Gold Logie gear was a whole lot better and honestly saved the night IMO.

One thing I did like this year was that quite a few of the Gold Logie nominees were presenting. I think they should take this further by making this a tradition where all of them present somewhere across the night with a co-presenter (ideally of their choice) who can congratulate them on their nomination and then ease into handing out another award.

It would save time - no need for a chat at the tables - but would still give them all some deserved recognition.

Maybe they could also run a package of Logies Moments involving the cast of Neighbours. Quite a lot of them over 37 years.

Im just watching on 9 Now and was expecting this to be something it doesn’t appear to be. Lots of laughing and applause? Perhaps its more noticeable on the app?

I will say, its not Jmo’s funniest stand up, but im still enjoying it.

Good to see 10’s coverage of The Logies included an interview with Hamish. Over on Seven, the Gold Logie (as far as I could tell - I stand to be corrected) wasn’t discussed until Peter Ford’s segment on The Morning Show. There was a small glimpse of Hamish on stage on Sunrise but otherwise I thought it was childish and petty of them not to cover the win in their news reports.

Seven are petty. I dont expect full length promotion to Nine, but even a five-second mention of Hamish’s win during the news update would be enough. And they couldn’t even do thar.

Wouldn’t expect anything less from them. If Hamish was from Seven they’d be crowing left right and centre and rubbing it in Nine’s face. They must be sour that Sonia everywhere didn’t win it.

Yeah it’s been a case for a number of years that Seven don’t really support it. They used to send half the network and these days they only send the bare minimum which is a shame.

They view it as a show that only crowns Nine, 10, ABC, SBS, Foxtel and streaming shows and not theirs. Maybe if they produced some remarkable shows people would support them? But nah they’ll probably keep shoving Sonia everywhere down our throats.

Haven’t Seven previously stated they support the AFTRS over the Logies?

I suspect that pressure from Seven was behind some of the changes to the nomination process this year especially that noms take into account ratings. That’s associated with times when The Living Room has won a most popular award over BHandG. Unfortunately the change saw them only get one win in a popular category despite having plenty of nominations.

Sunrise has been #1 since it started. How it hasn’t won a Logie is beyond me. Yet The Project which loses constantly has won many.

There are many examples of this. I don’t blame 7 for falling out with the event.

This year would have been the perfect one for Seven to nominate Sunrise but in that category they nominated The Front Bar instead :person_shrugging:

Home and Away is the most awarded show in Logies history and won again last night, so there is obvious potential if Seven have the right shows and nominate them.

is David McDonald, accepting that award for Gogglebox, the son of Garry McDonald? Looks and sounds like him. Like father, like son?

I think part of the reason behind the high rate of absentees last night was that the ceremony date was only revealed with three months’ notice (on March 21), which didn’t give many overseas-based actors enough time to take leave out from their filming schedule to attend. If the date was announced nine or 12 months ahead, then I am sure more nominees would have been able to go the awards.

Looks like ABC and 10 won the most awards, ABC with 9 and 10 with 7. Nine did decent with 4, however 7, SBS and Foxtel did bad with only 1 or 2 awards.

Well spotted. I’ve never realised this either but I Googled it and David is in fact Garry’s son.

Probably because Hamish is also contracted to Ten for Celeb Gogglebox.

No, Hamish is not contracted to Ten. Celeb Gogglebox was a one off appearance.

10 have been promoting some of their winners across today.
