TV Week pretending votes were verified is laughable.
On another note, UK viewers voting has given Neighbours more exposure in the past week than it has had in the past 10 years.
Perhaps we need to go back to a postal voting system when the popular award voting of shows was dependent on whether or not viewers bought the magazine and could be bothered to go to a post office and buy a stamp.
On NordVPN there are numerous Australian IP addresses anyone in the World could use when voting for the Logies. Other VPN services would be similar.
Trying to send us back in time again?
If viewers bought the magazine in order to vote perhaps TV Week wouldnât have to recycle the photography on the covers a dozen times a year.
Yes but if they limited themselves to magazines, they would be fighting a losing battle. Circulation are diminishing every year and if they donât move into providing online content then they will eventually cease to exist.
How many magazines do you buy?
I donât think Iâve bought one since the early '90s. Seldom bothered to fill in the coupon when I did but I donât let that stop me from having a good whinge about the awards every year.
Well, there you go. You canât turn back time.
Cher can turn back time!
Not quite. She only pondered if she could turn back time.
But she has turned back time⌠Just look at her
Anyway back to the topic the voting system has always been flawed, lâve heard over the years the networks use to buy hundreds of copies of the magazine and fill in the coupons.
Nowadays we have the network campaigns for celebrities and unfortunately it works, l tend to agree with Patti Newtonâs comments.
KAK said exactly that yesterday on Studio 10. Staff at channel 9 were instructed to go round and buy all the copies of TV Week and fill out the coupons for their stars to win.
On Fitzy and Wippa this morning they discussed that and Sarah McGilvray confirmed the same thing when she was working âat a television networkâ. She was being cryptic but Wippa filled in the gaps by saying it was Channel 9 and the last campaign she worked on, where they did that, was the one for Karl Stefanovic.
There was a story doing the rounds years ago about a rather big male star who had it written into his contract that he would win a Most Popular Actor Logie if he was to sign on to do a new show. Staff had to stay back well into the night during voting and fill in coupons to ensure his win.
I found that quite touching from Neighboursâ Eve Morey
The Logies are an absolute embarrassment and joke. 90% of those that vote are from networks. The best way to do it (and credible) is to have a panel of people that is known to everyone and they decide. Get rid of public voting.
I think Ryan Maloney will bag the âMost Popular Actorâ award
Well done Neighbours on bagging 6 nominations, including Most Outstanding Drama
With âLive Votingâ the week before the Awards Ceremony, anyone can still win the Popular Awards. Depends on what tv campaigns are more powerful in that week, i guess.
Which makes it all more farcical.
