6 News Australia

It’s a good segment even though I’m from NSW and don’t understand AFL or the history. I’m not a fan of sport in general but the segment was interesting none the less. However you still make distracting head moves when you are reading the script. But I can see improvement since I last watched Darby present so keep up the good work.

Maybe add sport to the tags for sports bulletins/videos?

Love it Darby! Great to see this.

Seven Nine and ten are 50 year old linear tv Brands with news divisions - so their brands make sense

That would be something for the people who gave birth to it to decide. I don’t know much about the vision the purpose or the mission. What the brand actually stands for Or hopes to carve out a niche for. So not knowing much I couldn’t offer anything meaningful up

However I’d likely think about moving away from a linear tv number brand channel naming convention as it doesn’t make a lot of sense in a post linear digital streaming world to me.

I think you’re perhaps overthinking it a bit. I am not speaking for Leo of course, he can answer for himself. But as an outside observer, I see a channel that has just developed organically so it’s probably fair to say “6 News” was not part of a defined branding strategy or vision statement but now it’s established and people know it as that, why would they consider changing it?

It’s been fascinating watching the growth of 6 News, they’re now breaking stories. Well done @Leo_Puglisi6

the new 6 News politics promo is so good! The production values have definitely increased, and they were already pretty good

Thank you!
Expect to see more where that came from on air too very soon.

@Leo_Puglisi6 and team - have you considered say putting headlines/summaries in your countdown sequence, or even doing a classic-style BBC World breakfiller where you can put headlines and other info in the middle of your promos? Could be a good compromise between having your bulletins going straight into it/giving opening headlines and also good content for 24hr streams too

I do like the breakfiller idea - felt very jarring during the Japan earthquake rolling coverage when Leo et. al. were cutting to new year’s fireworks in between news breaks.

Yeah that was a less than ideal situation where we were caught off guard having planned a pretty simple schedule of 6 News, live fireworks, fireworks replay, repeat

Outside of the bulletins though we’ve got other news programs (and some other ones planned, stay tuned) so any further breaking news interruptions should be a bit less jarring

Uncensored doesn’t mean throwing people under the bus with out of context comments for cheap clicks. Poor form.

Yes, not easy feeling sorry for Basil, but this is perhaps one exception. Nothing more than click seekers.

It’s better being right than being first. Have the full information available rather than trying to get the clicks and gotcha moment in a tweet.
