And you took the opportunity to go on. I never saw an issue with that. You did well.
The people who are bullying him (and frankly should know better) are also people who border on the unhinged and are spreading misinformation (that Leo is trying to combat). These people aren’t interested in the truth where it doesn’t fit their chosen narrative.
It’s great that Leo is getting a platform to discuss his treatment online (we need to talk about it more) - but for many of these mouth breathers appearing on alongside someone like Bolt will (incorrectly) reinforce their thinking about Leo. It shouldn’t happen, but sadly it does and says a lot about our perilous state of current affairs discourse in this country.
Leo shouldn’t have to make statements like “It was not an endorsement of Bolt’s views”, that should be everyone’s starting point - but thanks to the actions of a few, that statement has basically been rendered hollow for the many. Context is no longer important to many and everything has to be viewed one-dimensionally.
Its sad that the only media outlet that will cover the matter of online bullying happens to be the one that has a track record in weaponising hate and misinformation themselves.
Leo (and his team? I’m not sure if this is a group effort or not) should be commended for the work they’ve done trying to combat misinformation - they’ve done more in this space than the rest of established media. The ones that I’ve read have been well researched and written to be factual not partisan - I hope he continues.
@Leo_Puglisi6 stay strong, man. bloody hell auspol social media is so toxic and I just wish these people would stop ripping you apart like this. People forget the human behind the screen and it sucks.
You’re doing a great job in what you do - please don’t let this ruin your career, and we’re here for you if you need any support.
Very easy to forget this is a young child, and people are treating him as an adult, in both his work and attacking him. It’s a double edged sword.
@Leo_Puglisi6 good bulletin tonight! You planning on making the double header a regular thing?
Yes a good bulletin i haven’t watched for a few weeks but if you can when only one presenter is presenting the intro to the story they should be the focus of the shot without the other presenter. Usually presenter A does one story’s intro in it’s entirety then presenter B does the same. If it’s a major story the two presenters would share but it would be a few stories here and there not every 2nd story but isn’t a bad thing just unusual. But you are doing a great job.
Just one thing is at the start of each story Dalby does a head move which is really distracting. It maybe something your not aware you are doing. If you watch the video back you will know what I mean. The talk that both Leo and Dalby have during the bulletin was really good in particular the section about Buddy’s 1000 goal. I don’t follow AFL but i am sure it was quite an achievement.
Probably just an occasional thing as it just worked out with Darby being in the area over the weekend!
Agreed that that would look better, but we don’t really have that much equipment so a bit hard to do
People can see the full bulletin via the link below!
You don’t say…
Are you using a folding camping table?
Personally I’m not a fan of Darby’s presenting style. But I do like the double header.
I do like the double but I feel Holly Shields could have been a better choice. Yes, Darby is the senior reporter but I feel as if he is more suited to reporting rather then presenting.
Leo and Darby presenting together was very well done. They both have big futures in news.
A big week for 6 News coming up based on tonight’s Patreon announcement.
Congratulations to the team. I am constantly surprised by how far they have all come in such a short time. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Well done @Leo_Puglisi6. Can’t wait to see this!
That trailer (especially the bit where Morrison lashes out at Crikey) has gotten a fair bit of traction on Twitter this morning.
It’ll be interesting to see whether anything comes out of the interview that warrants ‘mainstream’ outlets to cover/show snippets of it.
Well Crikey’s already covering it, but we’ll have to wait & see next week!
Why delay it to Wednesday? Won’t half the stuff be out of date by then? An election might have been called as well.
congrats on this HUGE scoop, Leo!
This is a massive achievement Leo, very well done!
Between this and your cracking Twitter bants, you’re really becoming a force in the Australian media landscape. I could have only dreamed of being this successful when I was your age!
Great get Leo. Looking at the promo, Scott’s up to his usual smirky self, i hope you were able to get some straight answers from him. We know what he’s like at dodging difficult questions.
