With Chris Smith starting on Monday it seems like there’ll be no changes to the afternoon format.
This is a real shame, I’ll certainly tune in to see what the morning sounds like but won’t stick around for the same old Z grade afternoons.

They should replace Pete Davis with Dave Cochrane - and extend 12-4pm, leaving Talkin’ Sport 4-7pm & remove Sportsday (with all their SEN branding). Evenings are fine with Gary Stewart as he is more easy talkback than 2GB’s John Stanley who has a bit more of a news focus.
They also need to do something about their weekend afternoon line-up. Barry Hill, David Gubbay, etc. are not as strong. I’d leave them for the regionals only.
According to the 2SM website, Dave Cochrane is hosting Breakfast this coming week - which is a stronger lead in to Chris Smith. I wonder if Dave will be Sydney-only, or filling-in for the networked Richard King?

Richard King is returning on the 20th I think & going by 2HD promos, he’ll be back to local Newcastle only, yay.
Which I can only guess the network will take 2SM breakfast if they don’t have their own local one. I’d guess Dave will be network filling in until Ron starts?

Apologies if this subject raised elsewhere or much earlier, but has there been any indications or announcements from the new 2SM owners/management if 2SM intend to or have re-entered the radio ratings Sydney survey?

Two days in, what’s the thoughts of Ron Wilson on 2SM breakfast?
Scant discussion here, so I’m thinking quite a lack of impact?
As I’ve said earlier, I am loving the huge amount of 2SM references now airing with Ron & Chris. They’re re-focusing on the network’s biggest market.
I have a feeling Chris will be more popular than Ron. However, once 2SM’s older demo makes the switch to Chris Smith, they’ll be more likely to keep their radios on 1269AM through other shifts.
Although, I’m unsure how listenable Pete Davis and 5hrs of sport talk will go down with that older audience.

They probably should do a deal with SEN for Talkin sport.
I did have a quick listen yesterday morning - did sound a little raw, but I’m sure he’ll get better as he settles in 
Something I did notice - he was playing songs from Youtube. Marvin Gaye’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” - when he went to play it, an ad started to play which took him off guard, and was fading the ad in and out and saying “give me a sec, the song will play in a sec”… then the song eventually started.
Surely 2SM have a music library?
Back in the early days of Bill’s ownership (early 2000’s) they would play a lot more music and even did a request program after midday, so they must have had something back then.
If not, i’m sure it wouldn’t be too hard to establish a library on a hard drive…maybe 2RE could lend a hand? It wouldn’t be too hard.

I really like Chris’ show. Haven’t tuned in to Ron so can’t really comment. But if 2SM plan to re-enter the ratings next year then I suspect Chris & Ron are just stage 1, and The Powers That Be will start work on the rest of the lineup after they’ve got Chris & Ron bedded in.

I hope 2SM do re-enter the ratings in 2026. I’d love to see how Chris Smith rates, that is if he is still employed after he attends the 2025 2SM Christmas Party.

Whenever someone tells me put on a Youtbe video and gives me the address, I download it first, so I can avoid ads (even though I do have YT Premium, and do claim it back on tax) and get the subtitles (if available).

Can anyone confirm what time Ron Wilson starts on 2SM each weekday?
Website says 5am, some socials say 5:30am and I heard an on-air promo say 6am weekdays.
