They should just make Geoff the SRN News Director (or in charge of training newsreaders there).
I think 2SER even has better readers than SRN.

I wonder if they just hire Geoff as a casual newsreader? Or as a casual trainer for the team?
Theyâd be mad to let a man with that much experience simply âread the newsâ and go home.
Heard Geoff last night when I caught the news on 4AK and the news sounded very professional I almost had to check my radio dial
2SM is usually much better then their FM network news presenters. I havenât listened recently but historically they had different presenters doing each. I never understood that when the FM news was pre recorded as it was on at different times depending on the station. They could pre-record the FM news at about 10 to the hour to be sent via satellite or direct download before the hour crosses over and played as necessary as close to the hour cross over. With the AM news done live on the hour.
I notice that Dianne Coveny-Garland is still at 2SM and has been there for 22 years according to her LinkedIn. I remember she being one of the better news readers on 2SM super radio network. I noticed she worked at 2RE and 2PK before joining 2SM all Super Network stations.
Oh dear god. How long has 2SMâs webpage looked like this?
Completely unusuable.
Needs more flying toasters.
That would be more useful than whatâs there at the moment.
Donât ya just just luv the squeezed head look in the pics?
Iâm telling you, itâs not a great way to sell your station. Even if you donât take part in ratings.
Essentially it looks like itâs a 2SM only website now, thereâs no links or details about the actual âSuper Networkâ group of stations, either AM or FM & nothing about their DAB stations, the only mention of DAB links to the CRA Digital Radio Plus web site.
SRNâs websites would make great faultfinding for web design courses: looks like itâs a 2 column Wordpress theme where it was expecting square thumbnails not landscape photos, hence the big squeeze. A bit of a crop with Photoshop or GIMP and it would look correct. Given itâs mostly a static site, plain HTML/CSS would be a lot easier if they had someone with that expertise onboard. CSS would also allow a responsive layout that would work on mobiles as well. You could probably write a script to update the site when a new mp3 of a show became available.
Old school broadcasters like SRN and WIN are very Internet phobic which tends to point to there being no money in it, which makes you wonder about the strategy at places like Southern Cross when they are trying to shift to being an online business.
Iâd use it in a assignment for high school.
Aspect ratios? Never head of emâ.
No. He has moved to INDIA!
goodness, that joke was worn out about 20 years ago
Some big outage happening at 2SM right now. Gary Stewart is currently on air (before 6pm) playing music - obviously from the 2HD studios.
Pete Davis and Dave Cochrane have been filling in for John Laws on his 2SM morning show since August 1, as the radio legend is suffering from a serious bout of flu, reports News Corp. Laws turned 88 on August 8.
Didnât Laws have his flu shot? Or not a strain covered by the vaccine?
