I’m not really a friendlyjordies fan but that segment from Marcus was terrible.

A couple of things. We are not in the up coming survey, at least till Jones arrives 
Regarding an increase of listeners - we are seeing a large number coming up the dial. If you check Facebook pages of 2GB fans, and Alan Jones supporters pages, it’s very clear they are liking what we’re doing. I get that none of you rate us, or even believe we are any good. However, I am proud of my very young show, and the content were putting out. BTW, it’s just me and Justin. We don’t have a GB budget with stacks of bodies on deck. We make the most of the great talent we have at SM and on the Network. I’m also trying to make a racket, considering we never, ever get any publicity. So, yeah, over the past 2 months we’ve built our show where we reach on average 350K reach on Facebook, our lines are always busy, I can never fit in all callers, or possibly read out all daily emails. Weve also received recognition from Kyle and Jackie O with them calling in live on air twice… And the Jordies stuff was me having a stupid crack at him hoping he might do a video. He did, we win. So yeah, I think we’re doing OK. I love working at 2SM. Bill pays me a shit load of $, we have a happy stress free environment in which we can all grow and push each other to improve. Oh, and I love the fact I get to fill in for, and watch an icon of the game in John Laws each day. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. We will succeed, bud our show, survey or not. Cheers. Marcus

Sorry for the rant but yes I’m very passionate about my little show.
However I’m all for criticism (preferably constructive) as we’re all just trying to do the best we can. It’s tough not having the budget or resources the other guys have, however that’s no excuse for not trying to make good radio.
I’m new, I’m shitting myself, but I’m going to really have a crack

It is a shame 2sm won’t be in the ratings.
One thing 2sm I have observed, it has more stability than other commercial stations.
Maybe that’s the good thing not being in the ratings game. Anyway great you have posted something on this forum.

Welcome Marcus - and fair play to you for coming on here and debating direct, that’s certainly much appreciated by me and I’m sure other forum members too! I’m not what you’d call a target listener of yours, in that unless I’m on one of my occasional visits to Australia (last there in November and December - and unlikely to be back again for a good while it seems!), I listen in online from the UK, and I have to say increasingly to your show. A different format and style from what went before with Grant and Dave - that’s not a criticism of anyone, just an observation, and everyone does of course have their own broadcasting style. But now I have got used to the (sudden) change and the faster pace of the show, I think it’s sounding good and developing well. Totally get why you need to make some noise to draw attention to the show in the absence of serious marketing (can’t you persuade Bill to try and find a few dollars down the back of the sofa to pay for some marketing?!!) Any new show and format take a while to gel, especially at breakfast where people tend to be quite set in their listening habits, but I think all the hard work you are putting into the show is paying off - and hopefully that will be reflected in survey ratings once 2SM does join in. You also sound to have a good rapport with Justin. I appreciate my opinion doesn’t count on any of this but I thought I’d say something anyway! All the best

What kills me is how little of the relatively simple stuff gets done - we’re months in and there’s still not a page up for you on the 2SM website - just a redirect to the Facebook page.
Sure - you want to boost via the socials - but have the web content there - at least to the same level that Laws and Talking Sport get on the home page. There’s a ‘Podcasts’ page, but all it has is a single link off to iTunes for Laws’ show. Dropping audio in the main facebook feed isn’t great - Facebook is horrible for playing long content - that’s where you need the best bits highlights of a few top sharable minutes. Have full podcasts in a proper feed on a site that deals with audio better.
There’s lots of stuff I can appreciate is a matter of resources that 2SM won’t have up against the big guys - but there’s plenty of nearly free stuff that hasn’t been done. Kick the easy goals first.

Yeah I can’t really see Jordan’s demo tuning in Marcus. How about wear his t-shirt and give his video a like, you laughed at his joke, don’t be a stooge.

My 2SM listening days were when it was at its peak in the 1970s and early 1980s. It is a pity it has been in the doldrums for so long. It needs some glory back. Hopefully this is the opportunity.
@Marcus_Paul The digital radio thread here has some discussion about the state of 2SM’s digital channels. Any chance you could have a word to someone to get them back on-air?

Great to hear @Marcus_Paul this morning on 2SM giving plenty of coverage to the disgraceful & just plain wrong NSW government decision to relocate the PowerHouse Museum to Parramatta.
Michael McLaren yesterday covered the topic in depth on 2GB yesterday morning & with regular caller Stephanie sinking the boot in appropriately to the NSW gov.
Our readers, if they feel deeply about retaining the PowerHouse Museum @ Ultimo should be writing to their local MP, Gladys etc. The plan is a win for developers & a loss to everyone else. The move stinks to high heaven.
I would have thought culture & the arts was more a left-wing topic, as much as I disapprove of stereotyping, & yet broadcast stations like 2SM & 2GB are correctly exposing this very questionable & obviously suspect decision which appears to be pro-developers by the conservative NSW government. It’s just an example of how wrong @TVHead & some others can be to blanket pigeon-hole commercial broadcast hosts as conservative ‘right wingers’.
Talkback hosts & commentators raise the topics that are important to the community. Let’s give them a pat on the back from time to time.

I’ve just messaged someone at 2SM about that, I’ve got some good sources that can provide good 24/7 programming feeds, Fingers crossed, I’ve kept Caralis’ thin finances in mind, and hope to at least get a meeting and discuss some possibilities. Could really offer something different to what’s on Sydney’s current commercial radio, and it won’t clash with 2SM’s current program schedule, so it won’t cannibalise any of his audiences.

it was fun and games until Jordies disciples started on my kids and Justin’s wife etc. We will be back on line when it all dies down. I’ve started to realise it not worth me having a personal fb anymore. I’m all good with the banter, it’s fun, except when they start on your family
