Maybe 2CH shouldn’t have dumped all their Christian programming?
I’m sure that there have been some heated discussions in the Oceania boardroom about what to do with 2CH. Its cost them close to $10 million dollars in acquisition costs and yearly losses since they bought it.
And there’s no way an AM licence is worth $10 million.
They cant… its part of the sale conditions passed on from when the church owned it
Just noticed 2CH RDS says, “Sydney’s Number 1 Classic Hits Station, Classic Hits 2CH”.
They should say, “Sydney’s Number 1 Classic Hit Music Station. Tim Webster in the morning and non-stop Classic Hit music all day while you don’t work anymore.”
Ha.
When the classic hits tagline gets old, they’ll change to Pure Old. Or even Better Oldies & More Of It. I dont see why they cant, ACE already did.
How about “Sydney’s (or maybe Australia’s) Most Boring Radio Station”.
It says it all, really.
“2CH 1170: Sydney’s home of narrowcast sport or religion sometime within the next couple of years if still on the air by then.”
Sorry, couldn’t resist!
Oooo Starter 1170 - The Beat Of Sydney. I like it
Hmmm…sounds a little bit too much like a certain ill-fated station in Brisbane, approximately 27 kHz up the dial.
Management completely messed up that poor station
Which one? It’s happened so many times since their TCBL days.
Since Switch
2CH are looking for a new Inspirations and Open Line presenter: https://www.radioinfo.com.au/jobs/2ch-sunday-inspirations-and-open-line-presenter
So it seems like Aaron Wright (ex Hope 103.2) has left? I’m sure he was doing religious programming on 2CH last year anyway.
Just play music? 70s Sunday night sounds good.
Two interesting observations in that job listing:
-
Email address is accounts@
-
Website URL is classichits2ch.com.au
Imagine if everybody did that… we’d have sydneysnumberonehitmusicstationwithkyleandjackieointhemorningandnonstophitsalldaykiis1065.com.au
Come on 2CH. Really?
comeon2ch.com.au is five characters shorter, too
That blue, black and orange 2CH logo has to the the worst logo for a radio station in modern history.
It’s jarring. The colours don’t blend together. Writing “Classic Hits” in two different colours is dreadful.
It is like how logos looked before there was a science to designing them.
Did someone choose a random font and then spun a wheel to pick three colours?
It’s almost physically painful to look at. I suppose it looks slightly better to the 4.2% of the population who are colour blind.
Whilst it’s not as bad as the “Happy Days 2CH” logo, I agree that it is worse than the previous blue logo.
The mix-match of colours shows a bit of an identity crisis. Pick one or two colours and stick with them.
I would’ve also gone with a less-standard font type as well.
Keeping in mind, the new SeaFM Sunshine Coast logo is way down the other end of the spectrum… with too much going on.
