2025 Federal Election - Media Coverage

Why is it called this too?? I got duped the other night thinking it was news.

Not sure which debate you watched but Speers interjected Dutton quite a fair bit through the hour.

So who won the debate? How do you find objective analysis / verdict?

Love the graphics but the backdrop behind Dutton was very busy and awkwardly aligned and distracting

Sydney Morning Herald had a panel of analysts Parnell Palme McGuinness, David Crowe, Jenna Price, James Massola, Jacqueline Maley and Nick Bonyhady

David Crowe Chief political correspondent
Verdict: Albanese

James Massola National affairs editor
Verdict: Albanese won this debate, though not by much.

Jacqueline Maley Senior writer
Verdict: Albanese by a whisker

Parnell Palme McGuinness Columnist
Verdict: Albanese, for the algorithm

Jenna Price Columnist
Verdict: Albanese wins. At least he recognises the science.

Nick Bonyhady Deputy federal editor
Verdict: Dutton clears the low bar.

Overwhelming Albanese as was the Guaridan but everyone on Sky News said Dutton won by a country mile. Very strange!

Are they that detached from reality that they have such cognitive dissonance from what they’re seeing and hearing to make such ridiculous and demonstrable lies for their audience. So comical.

No we wait to see what twists that Nine and then Seven put on their debates. Panel of undecided voters? Studio audience? WIll there still be much interest by the time we get to the third debate?

Reporting live from the campaign bus

+1,000,000 for ABC coverage of the debate - number three program of the night.

Also number three in 25-54 demo and number one with the youngest group 16-39.

Great result.

NEWSFLASH

Posting this before the media articles start coming out. Election blackout period goes into effect beginning 12am 1st May 2025, prohibiting any election ads on TV and radio.

it’s not a Newsflash, this happens before every election. It’s very routine.

I know it’s a routine thing, it’s just I wanted to post this before the media gets in on the blackout period.

Then it’s not a newsflash.

Well lucky you did, there’s only 14 more days until the blackout!

NEWSFLASH

Thing that happens before every election will happen at the time we knew it would happen before this election!

I mean, you do you, but was there really a need to make this post now?

I think @Radio_TVGuy was having a laugh with the newsflash line. It was quite funny! Why does everyone have to be so serious?

Channel Seven election promo aired which I hadn’t seen before. It said that Bob Katter, Jacqui Lambie and Clive Palmer(!) will feature alongside some Labor and Liberal politicians, including Bill Shorten, Michaelia Cash (ugghhhh!!) and Clare O’Neil.

I’m assuming Nine will take advantage of its Parliament Studio this year. Split coverage between Sydney and Canberra maybe.
