2025 Federal Election - Media Coverage

Surely Nine News-branded.. Stan News sounds ridiculous.

Would make sense we’d see more ties between Nine & Stan given they’re now both headed up by former Foxtel exec Amanda Laing.

First he was against working from home, then he wasn’t. First he wanted a series of referendums, then he didn’t. First he was gushingly pro-Trump, then he wasn’t.

Seven’s schedule now has his debate starting at 8:10pm and running for one hour with the Spotlight special also one hour from 9.10pm.

Today ran heavily with a story on Labor’s health policy being “panned”; multiple reports, interview with AMA, commentary; and even while talking about other policies that was the caption on screen. Yet it didn’t seem to make the other breakfast programs.

This is what Sunrise covered.

Oh lord. It’s that awful sports studio again. Now with a stadium roof.

Have the TV on for ABC News on the main channel and there’s literally a program called ‘Federal Election Announcement’, which turned out to be an ad for Dutton.

Question is how is this even allowed on the ABC? Surely the national broadcaster should be neutral to political advertising? Also even if it’s fine, why isn’t there one for Labor for balance?

The messages have been happening for decades. All of the big parties get them.

Ok but why isn’t there one for Labor or the Greens? It’s like full on Liberal propaganda for everyone watching the 5mins before ABC News at 7.

There is. There was a Labor advertisement at 6:27 today for instance.

Thanks. Don’t really watch TV before 7pm these days so that’s probably why I’ve missed it.

There’s at least one each night, usually before the news. Also been one’s for One Nation listed in the guides.

Here is a report from Media Watch in 2019:

They did that a few years ago

That studio’s ceiling is awfully low. The tight shots look good.

Speers can’t help himself … constantly interjects.

He’s mumbling and interjecting whenever Albanese speaks and lets Dutton ramble on with lies.
