I’d watch Jacqui Lambie for the LOLs but Palmer, Katter and Cash… no not in a million years

Seven never fails to disappoint in coming up with these neanderthal panelists. What’s wrong with this network? I’d even prefer to listen to Christopher Pyne or Julie Bishop over these hacks.

OK Katter might bring some laughs too but Cash is just insufferable and Palmer’s a dick.

they’re just playing to their base. Remember, this is the network that put Pauline Hanson on Dancing With The Stars

FFS - I thought that they had finally learnt their lesson in having controversial panelists after 2022’s panel of reasonable experts.

I’m guessing they will be wheeling out some “most controversial panel” type promos in the next few weeks

Where are the Seven and Nine debates being televised from?

Nine most likely their WWOS studio in Sydney given thats where some of their promo came from, Seven probably a modified version of the Sunrise set?

10 getting in early with a link to 6pm 3 May live stream

I feel like a lot of the coverage from the networks is almost openly saying Dutton is going to lose, which I feel is potentially tredding on dangerous ground.

Firstly, polling cannot be trusted.

Secondly, the era of “gaffes” ending a campaign has really come to an end in the era of Trump. I dont really know how much people are paying attention to the campaigns yet.

Thirdly, it just doesn’t really take into account that there’s still weeks and weeks of campaigning to come.

Polls are not a predictor, but they’re basically been spot on since the correction post 2019.

People start voting on Tuesday. You need your offering done and dusted before early voting starts.

Not weeks and weeks. Only two weeks form tomorrow actually.

Yes. In 2019, 40% of votes counted were pre-poll.

I think it’s reasonable analysis on the information. If you didn’t have the independents taking a lot of key Liberal seats, you could point to a margin of error in polling, say it’s 50/50 and it’s a toss up result, but the Coalition need to not overcome a polling error, but also the on the ground situation they find themselves in.

They need net seat gains beyond what a typical swing would get them, because of all the seats where on a 2PP basis they would be Liberal but have a sitting Independent MP, whereas Labor have Government despite a large number of seats they’d expect to have been traditional Labor ones going to Greens and Independents.

There’s maybe 3 or 4 of the current crossbench who might back a Coalition Government, therefore Labor can probably form minority Government right down to a loss of 48 to 52 in 2PP, so that is a net 5 points polling error before a Dutton minority on those polls, there’d have to be something pretty earth shattering for a shift like that, and it doesn’t look forthcoming.

Predicting a Labor majority on those figures obviously is well with in the typical polling errors, but results within a margin of error of current polling would be a Dutton loss, so it’s pretty reasonable to report that framing.

Promo tonight for 7’s election night coverage from “Election Central”..
Quite a line up:
Musher, Hugh Whitfield, Natalie Barr, Mark Riley.
Tania Plibersek, Jane Hume, Clare O’Neil, Bill Shorten, Jacqui Lambie, Bob Katter, Clive Palmer (I may have missed some).

No one does election night quite like Seven…

Yeah this one. After 2016 US, 2019 Australia and 2024 US I’m kind of skeptical of polls and their accuracy. I feel like the disappointment from these elections have scarred my interpretation and analysis of these polls and their values.

I want to see these numbers to be accurate for once, and not skewed in the way that the Coalition sweeps to victory in majority come May 3 despite the polling says otherwise. It’ll be an indication of the farce that is polling companies and the way they try to create headlines than portray reality.

Sorry I missed the earlier post. My bad.

Will also be seen on 10s coverage (unless that has changed)
