2024 United States Presidential Election Coverage

Thanks David… good to see you saying something nice. Oh wait, ah well have a lovely weekend!

Obviously I don’t agree… the station (7) that ‘prides’ itself on news coverage and many on here ‘look up to’ made a major booboo.

Given the shit Seven cops in the other threads (generally rightfully), I’d say that the majority of users don’t look up to Seven.

Heck even, I’d argue that everyone here has their preferred networks, and it shows every now and then, but none of them generally get a free pass.

Seven’s mistake was acknowledged - in fact, it got the same amount of discussion the 10 start time mistake got.

Anyway, shall we get back on track?

WTF You attacked me first?

I am having a great weekend. Thank you so much for asking. I hope you are too!

Yes definitely…

Sorry if you think I was attacking you, was only trying to have some fun, apologies if I upset or annoyed you.

My weekend is fine, relaxing before visiting my oncologist on Monday for results that I think will be positive.

Converting time zones is an easy thing to make mistakes with, but naming Biden as the candidate which broke global news when he finally stood down and people are still talking about it, is hardly “relatively minor”.

Fair point - personally, I think Seven just copied and pasted what they wrote for the last debate, and just changed the time and the broadcaster.

Do we really need this on every channel in Australia?

Probably not, but

a) It shows audiences that the commercials are committed to news
b) It will probably rate the same as anything else they would show for about the same cost
c) For SBS, it fits within their multicultural broadcaster status
d) It’s still a major international news event

It’s also the only debate this election season between the two presidential candidates (discounting the previous Biden/Trump one back in July) - not only will it be a major test for Harris to lay out her political strategy well enough to convince voters but it will also be vital for Trump to regain some ground in the polls that he’s lost over the past few weeks. Should be an interesting watch for sure.

Still a possibility of a third debate if both parties can agree to one.

Trump is already setting up the debate as rigged as it’s on ABC and not on Fox. He’s complaining about George Stephanoplous (calling him Slopadopolous) even though he isn’t involved or the moderator. And also complaining about Donna Brazile even though she isn’t involved and just works on ABC News programs.

If Harris wipes the floor with him he will blame the network and the rules and never himself.

There may be another debate on NBC but highly unlikely if Harris does well.

No surprise that 10’s coverage of the debate, in the schedule from 10:55-1:00pm, will be presented by Narelda Jacobs and Hugh Riminton.

New promo just aired about 5:30 (here in Qld at least) for 10’s coverage of the debate voiced by Sandra, looked good.

A few different elements that we’ve not seen before I believe, nice to see them make some effort.

Edit: Social media version.

Anything and everything he doesn’t agree with is rigged.

The man won the 2016 election through the Electoral College but because he lost the popular vote he still called that election rigged.

2016 but agree with your point.
