2024 Queensland State Election Coverage

“Great” debate was not covered by Seven this morning. There was some mention of Queensland politics so far in early news and first news break but otherwise the biggest local stories are daylight savings and baby attacker.

Last night’s Leaders’ Debate, presented by 9News Queensland in collaboration with Brisbane Times and 4BC, was a resounding success, achieving outstanding ratings and highlighting Nine’s commitment to giving critical insights to voters for the State election on Saturday, October 26.

The one-hour forum gave Queenslanders direct access to both candidates, Labor Premier Steven Miles and Liberal National Party Leader David Crisafulli, offering a rare opportunity to hear directly from the men who will shape the future of our State. The debate tackled the major issues, including youth crime, health, cost of living and more, enabling voters to evaluate their policies and vision.

The debate was the No.1 program on Thursday night locally with all key demographics and dominated its time slot with Total People, achieving a Total TV Reach of 319,000 and a Total TV Average Audience of 187,000.

Additionally, on 9Now, the BVOD Average Audience reached 12,000. These results reflect the high level of public interest and engagement.

Moderated by 9News Queensland’s Melissa Downes, the debate featured a dynamic exchange between the two leaders. The panel, which included 9News Queensland’s State Political Reporter Tim Arvier, 4BC Afternoons Presenter Sofie Formica and Brisbane Times Editor Sean Parnell, posed questions that extracted crucial details and set the stage for the remainder of the election campaign.

Managing Director of Nine Queensland and Northern New South Wales, Kylie Blucher, said: “This is a fantastic result for Nine Queensland. Our extensive media network came together seamlessly to deliver comprehensive coverage of The Great Debate, showcasing the strength and credibility of Nine’s brand throughout our State. These exceptional ratings not only underscore the power of public engagement but also highlights Nine’s leadership in the Queensland media. A truly great result all round!”

They keep mentioning last night was one of three debates. Can I please ask where the other two will be? Surely all three aren’t on Nine?
