ABC has always put state election coverage on the news channel nationally.
I didn’t say otherwise.
State election coverage on ABC News has historically received comparatively big ratings with viewers in all states tuning in for the coverage.
Last NSW state election for example, ABC News Channel received a 9.4% share with the NSW VOTES: ELECTION RESULTS LIVE-getting a rating of 220,000 metro viewers including 82,000 in Melbourne. That was higher than the audience of 10 and SBS’s main channels combined. The main channel in Sydney had 189,000 watching. The combined audience was the number three program for the night in the metro areas.
Love how David said one thing and now everyone’s saying why it’s good the ABC is doing this.
What do you mean?
Tim Arvier talking up the debate this morning.
“only debate in prime time on FTA” “only debate before early voting starts” - narrows it down
i know when theres elecitons in other states i will generally tune in despite being in queensland. its because i’m a politics nerd and theres quite a few of us out there
I notice there is no network watermark. Interesting.
As if the backdrop isn’t enough of a promotion… probably so 7 & 10 can have footage for their bulletins and such.
You know what, apart from some the quality of the background in the shots of the leaders, that is actually a pretty decent setup.
But their logo’s are only in the shots with Melissa - other networks are likely to just use the footage of the leaders, who don’t have the logos in the background.
Doesn’t help that there is no Nine watermark for some reason.
No idea why there’s no 9 watermark… unless 9 is giving media companies a watermarked copy…?
Anyone know if there’s ad breaks in the debate?
Someone at the studio must be reading this thread…
Watch 7 & 10 use the pre-mark footage now.
Nine just ran a very good promo for their 6pm news about its election coverage.
Break started 35 minutes later
A much better debate than the national one Nine did a few years ago. It is missing that voter engagement though that you get from town halls or social media comments.
It was pretty standard/typical discourse from the politicians. I honestly think the other networks could get away with not featuring any grabs from the coverage. So no need to fret too much about the missing watermark for parts of it.
